Schultz Guest Grayson: Gingrich Running Most 'Overtly Racist' Campaign Since George Wallace

Go ahead, call it shooting fish in a barrel. As soon as Ed Schultz mentioned at the top of his MSNBC show this evening that Alan Grayson would be a guest, you knew the former Dem congressman from Florida would say something outrageous.

Sure enough, the guy who was roundly defeated last time around—but is giving it another go—delivered, claiming that Newt Gingrich is running "the most overtly racist campaign" since George Wallace. Grayson also managed to work in a reference to the Ten Commandment's prohibition of adultery.

I dont think Grayson knows what overt means.

I was thinking that same thing. Grayson is proud that his white DemocRAT pals are racists covertly.

As a California boy, I wouldn’t have thought there was a Democrat out there stupider than Bill Press. Until I discovered Alan Grayson.

That racist Wallace was running as a populist Democrat in 1972 and he had the MOST popular votes of all the Democrat candidates before one of those crazed lone assassins dudes took him down. He had some great populist campaign lines. He ran against Washington and big government. He called Washington bureaucrats pointy head pseudo intellectuals. He said that taxpayers throw a tax dollar across the Potomac and federal government throws back a nickel to the state governments. Am I saying that Wallace could have beaten that Dweeb McGovern? We will never know will we.

But I do know that Wallace may have given Nixon a run for the money because Nixon supposedly won in 1968 because of his so-called southern strategy. Wallace had an answer to the southern strategy but he realistically could not have won any big electoral states.

My point is that Wallace was a southern Democrat with a populist message who was racist and the record to prove it.

Gingrich is being compared to Wallace not because Gingrich is a racist in any way shape or form, but because southern populist politicians who threaten the establishment and the status quo will always be painted with that tired old racist brush.
