NUGENT: Fast and Furious stinks
washingtontimes.com ^ | 19 January, 2012 | Ted Nugent

The United States of America has turned into bizarro land. Think of this: Our very own Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), under the direct guidance of the attorney general of the United States - America’s top cop, mind you - not only allowed, but encouraged American gun dealers to sell about 2,000 guns to known punks involved in the drug trade in order to trace the guns to Mexican drug cartels. If you think that’s unbelievably nuts, get a load of this: The suspected goons who bought the guns were not even placed under law enforcement surveillance.

This is analogous to the Drug Enforcement Administration knowingly allowing international dope pushers to sell heroin on American streets without placing the dope dealers under surveillance in hopes that somehow, some way, the dope pushers would enable the DEA to trace the heroin back to some dirty, cave-dwelling Afghan opium poppy farmer so we could then poison the farmer’s poppy fields. Wait a minute, let’s not give this crackpot administration any more loony ideas.

In all of its bureaucratic buffoonery, the ATF lost control of the weapons. Of course it did, as there were no electronic tracing components on the guns. Our less-than-esteemed attorney general, Eric H. Holder Jr., to whom the ATF reports, claimed not to know a thing about this brain-dead operation.

What kind of inebriated idiot would hatch an evil scheme such as this and then believe that, somehow, the guns could be traced to Mexican drug cartels without an electronic tracing component? This isn’t some low-ranking bureaucratic village idiot but a high-ranking government bureaucratic idiot who is paid by U.S. taxpayers.

It’s not as if the drug cartels needed any more guns. An estimated 35,000 Mexicans have been slaughtered in recent years in drug-related violence.

Ted needs to read more. The FBI was involved, so it would make no sense to place them in charge of the investigation.

I sure hope this entire scandal has some effect on the November election.

I still cannot understand how Holder has not been FIRED over this yet. This is a monumental scandal which even led to deaths at the hands of the weapons Holder sent. Any investigation by the FBI will probably just be a cover-up.

That was never the intent. The intent was only ever to be able to trace them back to U.S. gun dealers, so that new gun control laws containing "common sense" restrictions on the purchase of certain types of firearms by U.S. citizens could be introduced, passed and implemented.

They will bring down the Nixon Presidency over a break-in for files, but will let Sandy Burger take FBI files in his boxers and excuse it.

Support Raila Odinga who burns churches or Rashid Khalidi and the Lefty media give you a pass.

Guns to Mexico...cropping thousands from the unemployment rolls to keep the % down of unemployment; killing the Keystone XL pipeline; sealing your records as your first Executive Order in 2009; having Andy Stern and Richard Trumka visit the WH dozens of times...ARE NOT STORIES.

You are racist to even imply these things. They SHALL remain silent and buried.

Let’s focus on Newt and Bain Capital, not Soros, GE, Solyndra, LightSquared, Solar USA or insider trading...

I despise the Lefty Media.

You are right, that is the only possible motive which makes sense.

It is also the motive which 90% of even Republican never mention.

Holder and those both up and down the chain are being protected by the Media. As long as a criminal as (D) after his/her name they are protected by the media. If they are unfortunate enough to have (R) behind their name they are nothing more than bleeding red meat for the media.

That is the reality in today's America.

And the media is wondering why their “news” magazines, “news” shows, and “news” papers are constantly losing money?

“The intent was only ever to be able to trace them back to U.S. gun dealers...”

Remember their claims at the time that the US was the main source of cartel weapons. It was all very orchastrated. They knew because they were the suppliers.

Please... Janet Reno presided over the burning deaths of American citizens in Waco.

She survived that to continue receiving her pension. Democrat politicians and their appointees are teflon coated.

The MSM is also culpable in this F&F scandal and needs to be de-monopolized. Finding a few of the more prominent TV liars, oops, I mean news reporters, on the edge of town tarred and feathered might send the message that it is time for them to start reporting the whole truth.

Ya, I know that you’re right. We can hope that the economy gets even worse this year, EU comes completely apart, and the stk market drops big time; maybe then they’ll wake on up and kick him back to his Chi Town ghetto.

I love Uncle Ted but he got at least three things wrong. As you said; the FBI was involved so they can't objectively investigate it. Secondly there isn't a whisper of evidence that F&F or other ops like it had any intention of tracking the guns. Thirdly, and this is kind of a nitpick, the death toll in Mexico is closer to 50k over the last six years not 35K.

But his suggestions of indictments and prosecutions for murder are on the money. Firings and accepting resignations just isn't good enough.

I find myself thinking the same thing quite often. The left, Progressivism, will never be defeated until they defeat themselves by causing such ruination that no one can any longer deny that they are at fault.

Some people believe the U.S. government is now the enemy of freedom. Some people now actually fear the U.S. government as constituted.

Some people in the U.S. government fear the people. Most do not.

To paraphrase CCR, "there's a bad moon on the rise."

VH1-Classic is running Uncle Ted’s bio this weekend, if anybody is interested. ‘Sposed to be 9PM Saturday in my area.

I love his in-yer-face support of the 2A, but yeah like somebody upthread posted, the FBI already knows and participated themselves in F&F.

Also, it irks the snot out of me every time a writer complains that the F&F guns weren’t electronically tracked via transponder from the dealer, and for three reasons:

1) Such an assertion ignores the fact that it WAS tried in the Bush Administration’s “Operation Gun Runner,” only to fail due to technological limitations. There was no way to hide enough battery to keep the transponders working; and,

2) Somebody’s working - at a furious pace, one could say - to fix that problem. Innocent gun buyers, look out! and,

3) The same complaint ignores that “Operation Gun WALKER” and the other operations of Fast and Furious were intended to eventually justify (further) abbrogations of the 2A rights of law-abiding Americans. And if we aren’t careful, they will still pull it off. (See #2 above.)

I really do hate it when Hannity, The Nuge, and others on our side scold as if it would have been all okay if the guns had been transponding their locations from the moment they left the dealers’ hands. Were that possible, it would become another tactic in the war against lawful gun owners. Frankly, it’s only a matter of *when*. It’s for the benefit of the chil’ren, doncha know.
