WASHINGTON -- Brady Campaign Acting President Dennis Henigan today issued the following statement in response to U. S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords announcement that she would resign her seat in Congress this week.
"We understand but are deeply saddened by the news that Rep. Giffords has decided to resign her seat in Congress because of the demands of her continued rehabilitation from the gunshot wound she suffered a year ago in Tucson. Congress and the American people now have lost the service of another devoted public servant because of gun violence. It is sadly reminiscent of the nation's loss of Jim Brady as Presidential press secretary due to a similar gunshot injury 30 years ago. We hope Rep. Giffords' departure is only temporary and wish her well on her amazing and inspiring recovery." Share This Story
In 2011 Connecticut attempted not only a ban on the sale of 10+ round magazines, but also the posession thereof. It was smacked down by a flood of 2nd Amendment supporting citizens who testified against it for over 12 hours in a judiciary committee hearing.
Regarding this particular “devoted public servant,” my guess is that fewer than one in a thousand Americans would have recognized her name the day before the shooting.
And since they say “another,” I wonder who else it is that they have in mind that came before Giffords.
They may be hinting back to the assassinations of President Kennedy and Bobby Kennedy. Not sure where they are going with this.
You’re right, only devoted political junkies knew who she was before the shooting.
It was pointed out yesterday by FReeper pgkdan that our Congresscritters are eligible for lavish pensions/benefits only AFTER serving at least 5 years in the House.
This month marks the FIFTH anniversary of Gifford's service.
Coincidence? I think not.
Liberty-raping, fascist democrats had better realize that “nothing is off the table” isn’t a one-way street.

I was having this discussion the other night with a democrat friend, he was defending her keeping her seat and I was against it. He had no defense for her keeping the seat, just that it’s hers. RME I am glad she finally resigned. Best wishes to her in her recovery.
That’s interesting. A coincidence? Probably not. It may be an indication of her continued impairment that rather than make this announcement at a press conference, it was decided instead to release a written resignation.
To hell with them, to hell with everything they stand for. As a self-determined, free-thinking American, I have absolutely no interest in anything they have to say.
Their prop fell over.
That she was shot is a tragedy. Period. The shooter was NOT a “right winger”. She did not deserve it and the scumbag deserved to fry - HOWEVER, Giffords is a turncoat. She was a Repubican and turned ‘rat to win a seat.
Further her WHIPPED hubby blames Sarah for the shooting.
:-)
Thanks.
With ammo so expensive I look for steel case ammo.
Yes, I understand what you mean.
My comment was about her being used as a prop by the Brady Bunch.
What have you got to say about that?
“...rady Campaign “Saddened” by Gabrielle Giffords Resignation,..”
Yeah, I’ll bet they are...
They never miss an opportunity to wade in the blood of a victim of “gun violence”.
They’re disappointed that they can’t wave her around like Sarah Brady does with her husband.
Worthless dirtbags....
*** ban on firearms with certain cosmetic features, and a ban on magazines that hold more than 10 rounds.***
The first shot hit Giffords, second shot wounded another, third shot killed Judge Roll.
So, with a revolver the same three people would have been wounded or killed.
I do not know the order in which others were shot.
Good point. The ‘rats are peddling sweet milk until the election. If they win round two, then they’ll pour on the cyanide.
Democrat activist Sarah Brady,...”
Unfortunately the Bradys are Republicans. they are probably the only Republicans to open the Democratic Presidential Convention a few years back.
No doubt. But I wonder how many of them are wise enough to understand that the people have a latent counterforce, and in the end, the govt does not have a monopoly on the use of force.
