New Focus on Incendiary Words in Paul’s Newsletters

Emerging as a real Republican contender in Iowa, Representative Ron Paul of Texas is receiving new focus for decades-old unbylined columns in his political newsletters that included racist, anti-gay and anti-Israel passages that he has since disavowed.

The latest issue of The Weekly Standard, a leading conservative publication, reprised reports of incendiary language in Mr. Paul’s newsletters that were published about 20 years ago.

A 1992 passage from the Ron Paul Political Report about the Los Angeles riots read, “Order was only restored in L.A. when it came time for the blacks to pick up their welfare checks.” A passage in another newsletter asserted that people with AIDS should not be allowed to eat in restaurants because “AIDS can be transmitted by saliva”; in 1990 one of his publications criticized Ronald Reagan for having gone along with the creation of the federal holiday honoring the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., which it called “Hate Whitey Day.”

Time for a second look at those Ron Paul newsletters - HotAir headline

The New York Time signaling what's in store for Ron Paul? Are they sharpening their long knives? Once Paul has served his purpose (prevent a coalescing around a Not Romney), will the campaign to take Paul out begin?

The Paulbots are finally getting a taste of what every other candidate has had to put up with. They treat Paul like he’s a god and now they’re seeing what it’s like.

Before the usual suspects say “Paul didn’t write them, they were ghost written, he had no idea.. yadda, yadda”, remember...

In 1996 he admitted writing them and his campaign then even said he ‘continued to write them’.

It’s actually getting amusing how they dig up dirt on anyone who gains any traction, but what did they report when Obama became the front runner?

Why do people think Ron Paul has such a following in the neo-nazi and skinhead communities? It’s because of garbage he wrote back in the day.

Paul deserves it for spitting on all the other candidates.

That's true of all except Romney. Romney gets a pass until he get's the nomination.

Notice how Paul NEVER takes responsibility for anything. Is that the Libertarian way?

When his web site posted some screed about a candidate that wasn’t true. “I didn’t write it, I don’t know who did, I’m senile, it’s a hacker, etc etc.

One consistent stream in the Paul Character. Deny, Deny, Deny.
I thought Libertarians were big on Personal responsibility? Guess NOT!

I think the true story here is that a young but hate filled Barack Obama wrote those columns for Ron Paul.

The cadence and word selection clearly matches that of his own autobiography (allegedly ghost written by the arch terrorist William Ayers).

When did being “anti-’gay’” become a sin?

Ron Paul can’t be taken out. It’s gone from Texas legalize-weed types to international take-down-the-US-political process in one election cycle.

And Paul (if you asked him, nobody has yet) would just be shocked, SHOCKED at the groups that operate under his banner.

DYK that Paul says he has the Black vote because he will let them out of Prison (non-violent druggies, sellers?)

Paul is Satan personified here on FR. Didn't you get the memo? If Paul is for it, then it must be evil.

Never mind that sentiments like these regarding homosexuals, inner-city minorities and so on are regularly expressed on FR without controversy (even when done in more vulgar fashion). But if Paul is associated with such criticism, a double-standard shows up. Now lets watch the socialist wing here trip over themselves explaining how Paul is 'pro-homosexual' while they blame him for 'anti-homosexual slurs' in these newsletters...

Now that’s funny, I don’t care who you are.

Maybe the surrender monkey is only for homos in the military. He hates the military and knows their presence will hurt it.
