Dear Friends,
Today a friend who sacrificed much in the effort to lead our great country suspended his campaign. I want to wish Herman Cain, his wife Gloria, and the entire Cain Family the very best and God’s blessings as they move forward.
Herman Cain’s appeal was that of a Washington Outsider – someone not beholden to the entrenched Beltway interests, and who hasn’t spent his life cutting deals at the expense of conservative principles.
As the race goes forward, with the Iowa Caucuses 32 days away, I am truly the only Washington Outsider left in the race. I haven’t served a day in Washington – either in Congress or as part of an Administration – and I am not the hand-picked choice of the Washington Establishment. I am simply a conservative governor who has led based on my strong faith and conservative values, and will chart a conservative course for our country.

I think you both misunderstood.
This letter is from Rick Perry, posted on Rick Perry’s website, in an effort to sway Cain’s supporters into becoming Perry supporters.
It is not FROM Cain. It is not TO Cain.
(So many of Free Republic’s misunderstandings would be minimized if people would just click on the links to the original articles before commenting on threads.)
However, one of the strong factors--in my mulling options--has got to be the behavior of followers of candidates on here recently on behalf of their candidates or arrayed against Herman Cain, and what they either had to say about Cain (some incessantly), or insultingly so directly to me. The well has been poisoned almost irretrievably.
With a few exceptions such as for Gingrich, I don't recall many if all supporters of Bachmann, Santorum, Gingrich, Paul or Johnson for that matter saying much in the way of rather offensive and scurriolous commnts. But do I ever remember the words coming out of the mouths of the Perrybots and stealth Romneybots. Will never forget that. Also, when and if the Obama/RINO smear team just making up things about them, and mercilessly turns on them through the MSM to destroy them and run them out of the race, if they do (request it), they will find little solace or supportive fire-power from this quarter believe me.

I don’t know why there was such bad blood between Cain and Perry.
No doubt there could have been some underhandedness (hey. I made up a new word!)
But the attacks could well have come from Romney..or (gasp) Bachmann.
Excuse me, sir. I TOTALLY understood the letter was/is an appeal from Mr. Perry to Mr. Cain’s supporters to “switch over”. I DID read the article AND I comprehended.
I was asking WHO comprised such a coherent letter/article FOR Mr. Perry!

Cain made false allegations against Perry...that is a fact. You are sick..hope you get help soon
I understood the letter was from Perry. That is clear. After what the Cain Campaign put Perry through...Perry should have said, “karma bites you in the ass everytime”

Still refutable. Can you prove that a majority of those making up the Washington Establishment, have hand-picked Romney?

And while I have been most recently attacked by Gingrich supporters I won't allow that to alter my view of their candidate either. Gingrich is still pro-amnesty; it's the tack he has taken and he's not about to change course now. That considered, he will never get my vote.
I'm currently uncommitted and am waiting to see what happens. As we know, Rudy Giuliani was leading this time 4 years ago with John McCain was in 3rd. So anything can happen, we'll just have to wait and see.
It started when Cain said he would pick anyone except Perry for VP. Then he went on to basically call Perry a racist. Perry never said anything negative about Cain.
It doesn’t have to be proven, it’s obvious to all but the willfully blind, it’s the established order and the way the game is played.
It’s Mittbutt’s “turn” you see, that’s the way the Old Boys Club works.
I know that, you know that, Rick Perry knows that, and Mittbutt knows it and is counting on it.
And why, sir, would you make an “off-the-wall” (Stassen was later best known for being a perennial candidate for the Republican Party nomination for President of the United States, seeking it 12 times between 1944 and 2000) comment such as THAT?! (Frankly, I had never heard of that particular individual and am perplexed over the connection...)
Some of you “people” on FR are apparently “pseudo-elitist wannabes”.
Perry should have said, “don’t let the back door hit ya where the good Lord split ya”
I know I would have said that, but then I’m not running for office. :-)
