“West, a Tea Party favorite, indicated Cain is already out of the running and the GOP nomination field has come down to “a two-man race.”

West is spot on.

Go Newt Go.......

Why is Cain more of a distraction than any of the other 2nd-tier candidates?

I guess his argument was that Cain is eating up a lot of network coverage for things that have nothing to do with beating Obama, and takes the focus off the economy, jobs, and taking back the white house to save our country.

The other candidates aren’t distracting because they aren’t getting coverage, and when they do it’s generally because they have a new policy proposal so it’s the POLICY that gets covered.

With Cain, even if he tries to discuss policy, unless it’s 9-9-9 the conversation is always about what he meant, what is wrong with what he said, or whether he’ll clarify his remarks.

Didn’t take long for Allen West to go RINO.

WHAT CANDIDATE, MR. PGKDAN??? LET ME KNOW SO I CAN DEMONSTRATE TO YOU HOW THE LEFT WILL TEAR THAT PERSON DOWN BY DEFAMATION. THEN, YOU CAN STAND ON YOUR PRINCIPLE, UNTIL THE GOVERNING LEFT COMES AND DEPRIVES YOU EVEN OF YOUR RIGHT TO STAND ON PRINCIPLE!

If Cain loses on policy that is one thing but to be drummed out with lies is unacceptable.

Exactly. His departure would simply embolden the liberal smear machine to double down on all the other candidates.

Not to mention giving them the idea that their virulent racism is justified and successful.

That includes airline tickets to fly to sporting events; acting as his partner at social gatherings; lavish dinners at 4 star restaurants; expensive gifts, and 4:30 am phone calls that last an hour. I think Ms. White has more to show than telephone records: rent receipts; a couple of mink coats; some diamond bracelets, etc.

Granted, circumstantial evidence can be persuasive once there's enough of it. However, you have rattled off a long list of purported evidence, yet I, as your reader, have no way of knowing if any of it is real. It is posted somewhere? Where are the physical objects you describe? Where did they come from? What is their chain of custody? Is there a paper trail to verify the chain of custody? Has any of it been vetted by a judge as admissible for purposes of proof? Or is this still all just words on somebody's computer screen? A man's reputation is nothing to trifle with. If there is durable proof, bring it forth. If not, then why repeat what you are not certain is true?

Where is the proof that Mrs. Cain was in on these charitable contributions? Has she attested to that fact?

Did she also support the trips around the country, the primo sports events, the lavish restaurants, the hotel bills, etc. etc. etc.?

I’m sorry, paperdoll, that your idol has proven to have clay feet. I know how much that hurts.

I am disappointed, too. Not only in Herman, but in the whole Republican field.

Maybe Allen West is just giving his honest opinion.

He should just go home and try to mend fences with his wife and daughters, and try to live out his old age in dignity and peace.

I agree and don't believe that any of this is coming to him as a surprise. To think that he would let his ego run this campaign knowing what a load of garbage was going to come down on his family due to past indiscriminations is amazing to me. I wouldn 't treat a dog that way, let alone my wife.

Col. West is a strong conservative and speaks wisely. I wish he were a candidate. With Cain now running a distant fourth in the polls, and funding beginning to dry up, it is matter of days befoe he announces his withdrawal from the race. So once again Obama will be laughing all the way to the WH in 2012 with the current crop. Gingrich is so yesterday and is NOT telegenic. All in all, of what remains, Gov. Perry looks a good bet unless either Santorum or Bachman can gain traction in Iowa.

I wish West had run, although I don’t think he had enough national name recognition at that point and not a long enough political career.

Too early for West but his day will come.

his meager intellectual equipment

Huh? I have uncles who worked for Navy ballistics. My uncles were card-carrying math geniuses. My one uncle was legendary. He worked as the “computer verifier” during the Manhattan Project. He could look at a full page of numbers and instantly tell you the sums any way you wanted them, so he could check the computer for accuracy on the fly. Kind of freaky “Rain Man”-like, but otherwise a nice, soft-spoken, wonderful guy.

So being at or near genius is kind of a prerequisite to get those kinds of job. Cain may be inexperienced in some of the knowledge domains a president must master, but I have no doubt whatsoever that his intellectual equipment is rated in the topmost percentile nationally, and almost certainly superior to almost all FReepers. Pass any three-dollar bills lately?

I wish he were a candidate.

I think there are more and more posters here wishing other people were in the race and we had better options to pick from.

I should have said ex-mistress. It’s the most recent woman, and that was a direct quote (”Herman Cain loves Herman Cain”) from what she said in the interview.

I agree with all of that, except Obama should instead be appointed to the position of permanent dishwasher in whatever prison he spends the rest of his worthless life in.

He’s right, but one thing he doesn’t understand is that the GOP campaign matters nought to Cain or to his followers

No, many of Cain's followers actually believed he was serious. Cain on the other hand was doing it to sell a book and get some national spotlight - he's wanted to do this very thing since 2000 when he tried it the first time around.

Cain may stay in the race because winning wasn't the goal in the first place. Most candidates suffer through a campaign because they want the office and the power to pursue an agenda that comes with it, Cain actually loves the campaign itself. It's actually what makes him come across as such a happy warrior, he's just thrilled being out there mixing it up and getting national exposure.

Sorry, I take part of that back. I wouldn’t want Cain as chairman of the Federal Reserve.

Sounds good to me! Maybe he could actually learn a useful skill that way.
