Serbs opposed to the independence of Kosovo attacked North Atlantic Treaty Organization peacekeeping troops in the tiny Balkan state Monday with guns and Molotov cocktails, wounding dozens, the alliance said, in an escalation of violence that could set back Belgrade's long-running effort to join the European Union.

Kosovo was infiltrated and then invaded by Muslims, who then started a guerilla war against Serbia. When the Serbs started to fight back we bombed them into submission. Now NATO troops are enforcing the Muslim domination of predominately Christian areas of a mythical country that we helped create.

Yep. Add that the invading Albanians were also criminals, the main source of drugs from the Golden Triangle into Europe. After the Kosovo handover, drug smuggling into Europe doubled.
They also smuggle in human body parts for transplant operations.
And what NATO was trying to do when the Serbs interrupted them was to remove a roadblock making it more difficult for Albanian thugs to go into the remaining Serb enclaves and blow them up.
Yup, that pretty much sums it up, except it skims over the ugly parts of murder, rape, torture and kidnappings of Serbian civilians for the last 25 years.

From what I understand this is North Kosovo and is mostly Serb. The Albanians control the rest of Kosovo and with NATO’s help are trying to drive out the Serbs.

The main point here is that the Serbs are attempting to restage the 1990 Log Revolution, albeit this time without the Aces which they held in their hand the last time around.
Needless to say, they lost that hand, they'll lose this hand.

If you're not, Kosovo's history is like the "Itchy and Scratchy" show, except with real blood, where the role of victim changes back and forth with the passing of the years.
I think 0bama is sending a number of US Army troops to a country in Africa to supress a Christian movement that is fighting a Muslim group.

Prior to the conflict in former Yugoslavia, what was the percent of Muslims in Kosovo and what was the percent of Serbs in Kosovo? Article here the other day stated Kosovo was only 10% Serbian, nowadays.
Spot on so far, we hit the wrong side.
NATO's resources were stretched to exhaustion by Libya. The EU is close to bankruptcy. The US is losing interest in foreign wars. Perhaps the Serbs figure that they can convince NATO to leave?
My take on this is that it’s a 3-sided cluster with no good guys in sight, not the three principals (Serbs, Croats, Bosniaks), not any of the outside players (us, the EU, the Russians, the Chinese).
There were plenty of atrocities in every direction among the 3 principals.
The flame wars over the Balkans in the late 90s and early 2000s when I started lurking/posting on FR were legendary.
Yep. And in a fight with no good sides we jumped in to help those with whom we share no history, religion or values. I remember the fighting about it here as well.
