This is about as stupid as the older conspiracy theory that Jews were taking over everything and covertly turning everyone into a Jew because they had convinced certain food manufacturers to comply with Jewish kosher laws and, accordingly, had placed the (k) mark on the products that met the kosher laws. Geesh.

Actually, Rhode Island was created by Roger Williams, a BAPTIST, exercising HIS religious freedom to not be persecuted by the Puritan Anglicans. His welcoming of Quakers and Jews came as a result of his belief in religion being a choice

It is not a stretch, it is an entire chapter in the book of 1st Corinthians

if you KNOW it is offered to idols, don’t eat it.

1Cor 8:1 Now as touching things offered unto idols, we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffeth up, but charity edifieth.
1Cor 8:2 And if any man think that he knoweth any thing, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know.
1Cor 8:3 But if any man love God, the same is known of him.
1Cor 8:4 As concerning therefore the eating of those things that are offered in sacrifice unto idols, we know that an idol [is] nothing in the world, and that [there is] none other God but one.
1Cor 8:5 For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, (as there be gods many, and lords many,)
1Cor 8:6 But to us [there is but] one God, the Father, of whom [are] all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom [are] all things, and we by him.
1Cor 8:7 Howbeit [there is] not in every man that knowledge: for some with conscience of the idol unto this hour eat [it] as a thing offered unto an idol; and their conscience being weak is defiled.
1Cor 8:8 But meat commendeth us not to God: for neither, if we eat, are we the better; neither, if we eat not, are we the worse.
1Cor 8:9 But take heed lest by any means this liberty of yours become a stumblingblock to them that are weak.
1Cor 8:10 For if any man see thee which hast knowledge sit at meat in the idol’s temple, shall not the conscience of him which is weak be emboldened to eat those things which are offered to idols;
1Cor 8:11 And through thy knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ died?
1Cor 8:12 But when ye sin so against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, ye sin against Christ.
1Cor 8:13 Wherefore, if meat make my brother to offend, I will eat no flesh while the world standeth, lest I make my brother to offend.

no, it is not

no where in the selection according to Biblical dietary laws is a Jew supposed to say Jehovah’s name over the food

In Islam, they are required to bless the food in the name of their pagan god, allah

no, the point of nor eating it, is to convince the others around you that the idol is NOT to be worshipped

Basic menu is roast turkey, salad, pumpkin. But, we also incorporate seafood since we got excellent & abundant seafood (shellfish), and fish. Also, ham too.

Actually, I’ve got an early morning start tomorrow for cooking with a couple of family friends, so will get back to you on the details, more importantly the verdict after tasting.. - my parents-in-law are here, visiting this year - :/

What is important is that “I” didn’t sacrifice it to idols.

Do you suppose that if I drive by a mosque and curse it, that act has any effect on anyone but me?

Someone cursing or “offering” my turkey to idols has no effect on me or the turkey.

Thanksgiving turkey may just be a gateway drug for some moslems to experience "being American". That can't be a bad thing.

That's almost exactly what a Jewish friend of mine said the other day about this kerfluffle. As he said, the point of halal is assimilation. If Muslims wanted to continue eating their own special Muslim-only meats and Muslim-only dishes, they could. But they want to eat turkeys for Thanksgiving. And Butterball wants to sell them those turkeys. Like you say, that can't be a bad thing.

Coca-Cola tweaked its formula back in 1935 to ensure that Coke was kosher (and they sell sugar-sweetened Coke at Passover too). It was good for business, and it helped to foster a sense of American inclusion.

I wish the Cajuns would leave my holiday alone. They took my poor innocent turkey, jammed a duck up its butt.. then jammed a chicken up its butt, then jammed a bunch of sausage and rice in the chicken’s butt...

well, not ot keep beating a dead horse, but that is not what Scripture says

it says that you should avoid it for the sake of those around you

to be an example

Scripture plainly says the truth, there is ONLY ONE God, and the idol is nothing

BUT, the person who believes in the idols, or those around who are ambivilant, need to be reminded that if YOU claim to be a Christian, YOU are obligated to act it when confronted with this, WHEN you are confronted with it

and putting a label on that turkey is CLEARLY telling you it is offered to idols

If you want to tell God you are disagreeign with what it says...feel free to do so, just make sure I am not standing next to you, please.

Let’s start at the beginning:

“From the Christian standpoint, Allah would be an idol,” Biltz told WND.

Just who is the authority that determined Islam asserts any difference between God and Allah?

Yes, I know they don’t believe in the Trinity, but that is not my question.

Butterball has to be one of the most misleading brand names ever created. There is no butter in a butterball turkey. They use margarine.

well, it’s a shame you dont know the difference between Allah and God

I would say you need to learn to Google, for that explanation would take too much time here

suffice it tosay:

Abraham offered up Isaac on the altar, not Ishmael

God promised he would bless Abraham’s seed, Isaac’s seed, and jacob’s seed, not Ishmael

Israel is the chosen nation of God. Allah says Israel is to be killed at any cost

You can start there, I guess.

While I understand many people worship what are called idols, I don’t pay any attention to either them or their idols. They have no value to me.

"and, accordingly, had placed the (k) mark on the products that met the kosher laws. Geesh."

BIG DIFFERENCE:

"Customer service representatives from Butterball, one of America's most popular Turkey brands, confirmed to WND that the company's whole turkeys are – without being labeled as such – slaughtered according to Islamic "halal" standards."

And so-called "halal standards" are BARBARIC and support sharia in America.

Hi - since promising to get back to you w/ some details of the menu, glad to firstly report it was a success… pheww!! :-) - This is for 15 people.

We ended up cooking these: Roast turkey & stuffing w/ various herb sprigs, onions, lemon & orange, and gravy – mashed chipotle sweet potatoes - rocket & roast pumpkin salad - roast cauliflower w/ caramelized figs & pine nuts (the standard recipe uses dates, but I had power of veto in this case & decided caramelized figs taste better!) – barbecue bread/herb crumbed prawns (giant shrimps) w/ lime & mayo dip on the side - grilled (with butter & garlic) morten bay bugs (type of lobster you find here mostly around Queensland state) – ocean trout w/ cherry tomatoes, fresh sweet basil & fresh mozzarella. For dessert: Pavlova (it’s very Australian & usually very popular for Christmas, but my mother-in-law wanted to taste it again) - a type of berry misu, and lastly chocolate & cherry cheesecake (my husband loves this).

It may sound like a lot, but mostly they are fairly light dishes since it’s almost summer here. Also, not very difficult to cook, only, in parts, time consuming. — The other good news is that some of us will have to go on a diet & exercise a lot for the next 2 weeks, at least!

Western Australia is my favourite part of the Australian continent. It is also, geologically, a very, very old part of the continent (some estimate it to be 40,000 yrs old). You can see that in natural (rock) formations, for example. It is very unique to the rest of Australia.

Have you visited Australia since last time you were here?

“Wouldn’t blessing the food in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ at mealtime, as many families do, cancel out the halal stuff, or am I bonkers?”

Of course the halal business is just hokum — it has no effect on the meat at all.

The issue is obdience to the Word. After due consideration, the Apostles said “don’t eat it.”

Well, sometimes, as a parent, I say “because I said so,” and that has to be good enough because there are some things I cannot understand.

If looking at the reasoning behind the Word, I would opine (and it is an opinion) that we are to avoid such things to avoid giving them economic value (money) and because we should shun and refuse to be a part of anything that is false as that gives Islam credibility.

Muslims, in particular, use halal to force sharia onto Christians. We should fight this, even if the fight starts with our Thanksgiving turkeys.

The idol is NOTHING. The false god is NOTHING; I’m convinced of that, because the Bible tells me so - but each person must be convinced fully of it in their own hearts.

Still, companies shouldn’t do this sort of stuff.

Yes, it is nothing.

However, disobeying God who said “don’t do this” is something.

Similarly, giving money and credibility to a religion that is the opposite of Christianity is something, as well.
