Obama Bad-mouths America Abroad —Again
IBD ^ | November 18, 2011 | IBD

Leadership: The president is at it again, bad-mouthing the U.S. abroad. Last week he told Australians that our kids are "behind" in education and that the solution is —what else? —more government spending. Let's unpack that.

To start, normal presidents don't go around to other countries telling the locals that their country's schoolchildren are underachievers. Not Obama. "A lot of poor children don't get the support they need when they're very young," Obama told a roomful of inquiring students down under. "So by the time they get to grammar school, they're behind."

From that, Australians can only take home the message that American students are slow-witted and that admiration for U.S. education is misplaced.

It's part of a pattern he has, of going abroad, calling American CEOs "lazy," bowing to despots, and delivering one "blame America first" apology after another.

But more to the point, Obama's bad-mouthing of U.S. kids smacks of domestic politics by repeating the tiresome complaint that U.S. taxpayers aren't shelling out enough for an education system that is already loaded.

Agree, from the article

...normal presidents don't go around to other countries telling the locals that their country's schoolchildren are underachievers.

FUBO!

Best way to help U.S. public education? Close the entire U.S. Department of Education (re-education) including their SWAT teams.

And the MSM covers up, and will until the election.
The GOP candidates oughta feed on that and spread the word,
repeat it endlessly.

This is unprecedented. Has any leader of any country ever done that?

Over 90% of all great ideas and inventions come from America... and not one idea from the world of Islam and other countries.... what is his point? He hasn’t destroyed that yet?

"children don't get the support they need when they're very young,"

Obama to World: America is a disgusting place that doesn't care about its children and lets them flounder at school, unlike the enlightened people in better countries.

Americans are a bunch of lazy softies who go around toting guns and cling to idiotic religious beliefs. Half of them are racists who resent me just because of my skin color. These losers really make me sick.

America is a terrible place. You are lucky you don't live there. Americans pollute the planet with tons of carbon waste daily because of an unsustainable lifestyle that consumes more than their fair share of the world's resources.

I am so ashamed to be an American. That is why whenever I am abroad I bow to foreign kings and try to set the record straight about what a crappy country I am from.

Thank you.

Would you rather have Obama pick the next two SCOTUS Justices or have a REPUBLICAN President pick them?

Support your Candidate in the Primaries and then support the Republican Nominee in the General Election.

Not a popular opinion around here, but I prefer any Republican over the Commie Bastard we have now.

If you or any other people here think there is no difference between Obama and ANY of the Candidates we have now, there is no hope.

Holding your nose is better than giving Obama a nothing to lose second term. If you think he is bad now, imagine him going for broke for the next four years.

The Country would never recover.

How could this Obama freak trash this country overseas worse than “Our children suck.”?

"A lot of poor children don't get the support they need when they're very young," Obama told a roomful of inquiring students down under. "So by the time they get to grammar school, they're behind."

I think he's right on this, at least from his experiences in Chicago and DC. Dad's not home and mom's figuring out the best way to exchange food stamps for brandy. They certainly don't care if the kid does anything other than watch TV and be quiet.

“I think he’s right on this”

He may be right that there are poor kids who are hurting, but to focus on our faults while in another country as our President is dishonorable.

Chris Matthews doesn't agree: "Obama is wonderfully skilled at evoking what America's all about. I think he's great at it. He thrills me when he does it. In fact, that's one of the reasons I was inspired by him. He talked about our country. He evokes our country from his background." (http://video.msnbc.msn.com)

Yeah, Chrissy. He sure "evokes our country from his background" -- his background as a far left American-hating commie. And this editorial just drills that home.

“To start, normal presidents don’t go around to other countries telling the locals that their country’s schoolchildren are underachievers”

It’s not Obama’s fault that he didn’t grow up to be a normal president. He probably wasn’t reared properly.

We need to get rid of the Education Department. Then our students would thrive.
