So Perry is the only one who’s never run for nor worked in D.C., right?

I Guess so if you include the run part. That kicks out Romney. Then if you add the work part, from the Letterman interview, it sounds like that would include Cain.
Cain said he had experience with working with Lobbyists. And then Hunstman was in D.C. with both Bush administrations. And we know about Gingrich, Bachmann, Paul and Santorum.
But I would add that Gary Johnson, who has only been included twice in a debate, has also not held an office or run for anything in D.C. until now.
So of the top eight, that normally are in debates, then it is only Perry who has never run for nor worked in D.C.
But Perry did work with Al Gore in 1988 when he ran for President. But Perry was only in charge of the Texas operations then.
Perry was working in Texas politics all of his career.

That’s true. You’re only allowed to get busy the day after the election, November, 2012.

Believe or not, many Christians reject the view that Jesus was a war monger!

I know that it is Jesus who makes you Christian. I guess as a non Christian I wOuld have preferred Candidate perry to say Gd to include us too. But I really feel that today these were people and not just candidates. So what he said was perfect for who he is.

Lol! It is quite a lot of debates. I find them fun to watch but I have to be in the minority.

I find them fun to watch but I have to be in the minority.I wouldn't say you're alone. Most of the people that are engaged like to watch them. As Rush said, "It's good for the mood." But most candidates will pick up there votes at rallies when they meet constituents.

My reaction posted elsewhere:
Im groping for one word that describes what I just saw. Stunned? Perhaps. And not in good ways in some respects.
I've never seen a Presidential debate or forum quite like this. Perhaps they occur and are more common than Im aware of.
Maybe it was a problem with my expectation. It was after all a Family Forum. Theres no surprise that social issues would be the overriding subject/theme for such a forum. But this?
Dont get me wrong there are some positive things that could be gained from this event I guess. Will all the land now know that Republicans do indeed have hearts? Perhaps it served to highlight that these candidates do really passionately believe in some of their causes and that there is some real life experiences that form the basis for their passions (vs, cynical political calculations). Beyond that I dont know what I was supposed to gain here. Maybe somebody could clue me in?
I cant get a few things out of me head. Was that Frank Luntz or Oprah Winfrey? Dr. Phil? Billy Graham? Another thought that crossed my mind was this a contest to determine who could conjure up the best tear jerker?
Maybe Im warped
Dont get me wrong, Im for alternative debate formats. I found the Gingrinch/Cain pseudo Douglas-Lincoln to be pretty useful. There was another held in South Carolina a while back that was also pretty good. Im just not sure that Ill be interested in future debates overly steeped in emotionalism instead of rational, logical, discussions of issues and solutions.
Still trying to come to grips with what I thought about this event. But that was my initial take.
I suppose I should expect some flaming...

Perhaps that's why Romney took a pass?

Interesting take. This was a different format. I found it better than the gotcha questions at rece4nt debates. It was the way Frank Luntz wanted it to go.
