Police state evidence of drug overdose and carbon monoxide poisoning of protestor. Um...

I imagine this article should be considered “breaking” for a bit.
The Occupy Salt Lake folk have been challenging the oncoming winter for a bit too.
Gonna be rough on all of em once winter hits in earnest...

I was in Boston this week and saw the OB group and it was disgusting. Tents and tarps on top of people trying to get out of the rain and dirtbags walking around in a haze of drugs. None of it looked like it had any purpose, just a bunch of people congregating and looking a reason for it all.

What’s taken them so long? A right to protest isn’t a right to squat.

I don’t know why people think they will ever go away without being forced. Without OWS, many of these people would be in cardboard boxes on the street, regardless of the weather. Now they can mooch tents, sex and drugs. Why would they leave?

Anything used in a tent for heat without proper ventilation which emits Carbon Monoxide can get you to wake up dead in the morning. Camp stoves, gas lanterns, hibachis and the like can kill you, especially if the tent can be zipped up tight.
Drugs/booze just make it easier to die.

Let me guess, they have no permit, insurance or anything else.

When I was in college, a friend took a small charcoal grille into his camper to keep his group warm. They all died.

They had the nod from the City of Salt Lake, whatever that entails. Salt Lake City is a sump for the progressive ideology. The rest of the state is quite normal.
A couple days ago, there was a riot at 0300 where a few transients and occupiers were jailed for fighting. Some for intoxication, some for assault. I guess the SLPD are no longer amused.

Would it be considered in bad taste to start a collection to purchase more heaters for all the occupied sites?

Then there's this:
Occupy Ogden continues despite small numbers
-- snippet --
"I just wanted something to do to help people," said protester Edward Swift.
"I'm on a small social-security check," added protester Barbara Morris-Mazoko.
The protesters believe there is as much reason to protest in Ogden as there is in Salt Lake, according to Swift.
Despite the perseverance of the participants, there are typically only 3 - 6 protesters present, two of whom are cats.
Swift, who is from Oregon, has traveled the country participating in Occupy protests.
"My wife passed away back in May, and I also have cancer," he said. "I'm part of the 99 percent."

Anyone who has ever been trapped in a tent with a fart can attest to their air-tightness.
