Three-state poll: Obama could lose to Romney, but GOP prefers Cain
Miami Herald ^ | 11-10-11 | Marc Caputo

A majority of voters in the three most-important swing states of Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania disapprove of the job President Barack Obama is doing and most believe he does not deserve to be reelected.

The voters’ most-favored Republican: Mitt Romney, who is statistically tied in theoretical matchups with Obama. Only in Florida, though, does Romney show a lead against Obama by 45-42 percent split.

"Of these three swing states President Obama carried in 2008, Florida was the biggest surprise and had the closest margin," Pollster Peter A. Brown said in a written statement. "Florida is shaping up to be the closest swing state again in 2012 and it’s a fair bet that a year from now, it will be the toughest of the Big Three for Obama to carry."

Florida has 29 Electoral College votes — more than 10 percent of the total needed to win. Without carrying Florida, Republicans will likely lose the race for the White House because the larger states of New York and California lean so heavily Democratic.

Though Romney does best against Obama, he probably wouldn’t face him if the election were held today and confined to the big three swing states.

The poll shows that Florida Republican voters favor Herman Cain over Romney by a 27-21 percent split. Newt Gingrich is in third with 17 percent. Cain also leads Romney in Ohio, with Gingrich in third. The two are tied in Pennsylvania at 17 percent each, with Gingrich tying for third with former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum.

This is how they set us up. First, the media tells us that Romney is the “only one who can win”, and then we get stuck with a RINO candidate who loses anyway.

This administration is scared to death of Cain. That is the reason they are trying to destroy him. I say this again.....If Cain stays true to this country and its people, he could go down as one of the most popular and the most important President this country has had in a long time.

Unfortunately I think the fix is already in and we are going to get Romney. The establishment GOP and MSM has thrown Conservatives to the curb again.

I will not allow the liberal media to select my nominee for me. I support the conservative Herman Cain.

One of my favorite lines from the movie 'Open Range' goes:

"Well you may not know this, but there's things that gnaw at a man worse than dying."

For me voting for Mitt Romney is one of those things.

Exactly.

Obama will KILL Romney in an election. They are too much alike, and Obama’s already in the White House. It would be no contest whatsoever.

We can’t screw up in 2012. We just can’t.

Cain is the only one who can beat Romney in Michigan and better yet, he can beat Bammy here.

The reason why this kind of poll is junk:

All dims are united behind obummer.

Conservatives are not yet united behind one candidate.

When they are united or at least until they have selected their nominee, polls of this type have a built in warp for obummer.

So they mean nothing.

The fact that Obama has any chance of winning says it all.

The ads and accusations are already in place, just waiting for October 2012.

And the d@mn Tea Party people are messing it all up for them.

Once the PRIMARIES are over and a GOP candidate is selected, the dynamics change as the nominee will, presumably, pick up those Republican voters and conservative independents who are faced with the alternative of “Brand X” or four more years of that bastard Marxist Muslim in Washington.

The article suggests that Cain can not beat Obama, but offers no proof. It just conjuncts base on recent events that Cain is in trouble...

So here is the approach with Cain by the Rats... Throw numerous allegations at him. Then quickly work the "electability angle" and steer GOP voters to Mitt Romney, because he is Mr. Electable! Knowing all the time that Romney loses in the general due to the enthusiasm gap. As Morris points out, the nominee needs 110% GOP support and Romney continual 23% polling numbers indicates an anyone but Romney by the TEA Party, Southerns and Westerner. He can not rally the enthusiasm to win a general election..
