Herman Cain to Appear on Kimmel

Los Angeles - Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain is scheduled to appear on the ABC late-night talk show "Jimmy Kimmel Live" today, only hours after a fourth woman is expected to accuse him of committing acts of sexual harassment when he was president of the National Restaurant Association in the 1990s.

The woman will make her allegations at a New York City news conference at the Friars Club, where she will be joined by her lawyer, Los Angeles attorney Gloria Allred.

Unlike the three women involved in the previous allegations, the woman scheduled to appear at today's news conference in Manhattan will give her name and speak out publicly about details of what she says occurred between her and Cain when she sought his help with an employment issue, Allred said.

There was no immediate response to an email and telephone message left with the Cain campaign seeking a response to the latest allegation.

Cain has repeatedly denied the allegations, first reported Oct. 30 by the political news website Politico. His campaign has called them "thinly sourced" and "unsubstantiated personal attacks."

Cain campaign's chief of staff, Mark Block, told Fox News Channel on Friday that the campaign will no longer answer questions related to the accusations that Cain sexually harassed female employees when he was chief executive officer of the National Restaurant Association in the 1990s.

The appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" stems in part from a pizza-related sketch Kimmel did on Cain about a month ago, said J.D. Gordon, the Cain campaign's vice president of communications and foreign policy adviser. "We all laughed," Gordon said.

Well, perhaps Cain believes that the best way to treat the mounting accusations as a joke that he doesn’t care about is to appear on a talk show hosted by a comedian.

Probably not a bad idea. Kimmel isn’t terribly hostile and its good PR for Cain.

This thing needs to be brought to a head.

Get it out and get it over.

The best way to treat a smear is to not let them hijack your campaign.

It is. The facts are there. That people with an agenda refuse to see the facts in order to pimp the smear on behalf of their candidate of choice is their problem, not Cains.

My guess is that the timing of this is because Cain knows
the specifics of the claims by this accuser, and can easily parry and discredit them. OTOH, if the timing is all coming from the Allred camp, and they knew Cain had previously scheduled this, then their disclosure of this fourth “victim” this AM is perfectly timed by THEM, and they might win the PR war, especially if Cain winds up cancelling. I really have no idea what will happen, but it’s bound to generate “hugh and series” ratings for Kimmel.

>>> This thing needs to be brought to a head. Get it out and get it over.

That’s not the way it works, and that is not going to happen.

For this approach to work, you MUST have a media interested in promoting the truth.

What the media is doing is promoting the lie.

Their credibility DOES NOT MATTER!

What matters is that they are repeating the lie often enough and long enough for it to be believed by enough shallow minded people that the intended damage is irreparably done.

The question I’d like to ask is this -— will Kimmel bring the issue of those women up at all?

And if he does, how’s Herman going to respond?

Follow the money paying Gloria. Wardaddy mentions on another thread that the feminists have great interest in Supreme Court picks. With nothing but the slightest provocation we can expect all out media assault on that candidate. Investigate Gloria and her fem connections.

That's exactly right...so Cain needs to "let" the fire down out...let it run dry without further imput. We'll see if he will NOW take his own advice he's failed thus far to take..and not feed this further. I am afraid he won't let go.

I find it very strange that ALL these acts of sexual harassment happened when he was president of the National Restaurant Association. Not before? Not after? He would of stood a better chance of getting lucky hitting on women who hang around pizza shops.

I think the Cain campaign said they weren't going to answer any more questions about the sexual harassment claims. I don't know if that will change after the Allred presser today or not.

All he needs to do is turn it back on them, and ask them where they were when Clinton was accused of rape.

Then he needs to accuse the media of racism for giving Clinton a pass while pursuing baseless charges that promote negative black stereotypes.

Then he needs to accuse his accusers of bearing false witness and pursue them in court, because slander against anyone (public figure or not) should not be permitted.

An Offensive strategy to stop the lies is his only defense against this.

Ignoring it will destroy him.

No that's not the way to go, that's what you want him to do. If he starts dragging up Clinton it's no different than the blame Bush crowd...Clinton isn't running.

Cain needs to keep distinguishing himself ‘above the fray’...he was doing just that until the ‘press pushed his buttons’ with this scandal and he hasn't been able to turn them off yet.

He needs to do just as HE said...it is his campaign not the medias.....’Get back on message’ and remain there. Any questions about the scandal Cain should use the time and put his plans out there every time they try to corner him on this scandal. He's choosing to take the bait and run with it...remember they tried this on Perry as well...he simply would not give it the time of day.

Yes, this scandal has legs, because there was money paid out...and only because of that...everything else is political media hype.

Cain made his statement from the beginning...he should have stayed with just that...but that's history now...every day he has opportunity to move forward regardless of the media...just move out ahead of it...we'll see how he does with Kimmel...if he goes on the defensive again..and runs his mouth about this as he's been doing..then he with that continues to fail the test of being Presidential..I think he's above this crap....he's forgotten he is.

>>> No that’s not the way to go, that’s what you want him to do.

It’s what I would like to see... yes.
But you are right... It’s his game plan and not mine. I trust his judgment over my own on this.

I still maintain though that he won’t be able to ignore it away. I know how the media works, and Cain himself said in the debate with Newt that it is the media which has surprised him the most. We saw this coming before he was a significant blip on the radar screen. I do not believe that Cain has a full understanding of just what he is dealing with in the mainstream media, and the lengths they are willing to go to defeat him like this.

>>> Cain needs to keep distinguishing himself ‘above the fray’...he was doing just that until the ‘press pushed his buttons’ with this scandal and he hasn’t been able to turn them off yet.

Do not underestimate the media’s ability to keep pushing his buttons. Notice how they are already turning up the heat now with all the offensive gory details of the accusations. Cain MUST answer this with a challenge for her to put up or shut up... and he can start with demanding a polygraph. Otherwise, the charges will stick. Just like they did with Thomas. The difference with Thomas was that he only had to get through 50 senators to get confirmation. Cain has to win votes from the general public.

Happy to see Cain’s cmpaign responded on his behalf... full of his political points while only touching briefly on the latest scam. Way to go! Point for Cain, Maybe he’s FINALLY getting it.

...No doubt from those who are advising him why he can’t continue to fight the press or let this take his oxygen out of the room as he has been doing.....I hear he spent about two hours with Newt about this.
