Terrorists who spill blood should get the death penalty, former chief IDF rabbi Avichai Ronsky said Monday. Speaking to Arutz Sheva, Rabbi Ronsky suggested that if necessary, terrorist murderers could be killed in the field.
In many cases, it doesnt need to reach a court, he said. Soldiers could simply shoot to kill instead of doing their utmost to bring terrorists in alive, without giving the matter too much publicity, he explained. It happened in the past, he added.
The Supreme Court has ruled that IDF soldiers must bring terrorists in alive whenever possible, saying that to do otherwise is illegal assassination.
If terrorists do make it to court alive, the court should apply the death penalty, he said. The Biblical verse, Whoever sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood be shed applies to all of humanity, he noted.
By failing to apply the death penalty, courts are actually increasing the chances of bloodshed, Rabbi Ronsky warned. For one thing, he said, the release of terrorist killers provides Hamas and other terrorists with additional manpower, making future attacks more likely to succeed.
In addition, those whose loved ones died in attacks could be driven to vigilantism if they see killers walk free, he said. The rabbi noted that he does not personally support vigilante acts, but can understand those who turn to extrajudicial action out of despair.

Our society has become so “civilized” that we forgot all common sense, and that real evil exists.
This is what I've been thinking about our guys in Iraq and Afghanistan for a long time.
Capturing terrorists just encourages the other guys to take hostages.
Take no prisoners.
A facial recognition software program that works in a sniper scope would be practical.
Another point, the muzzies are gonna keep kidnapping your soldiers if you keep giving a 1000 for 1 return on them.
Buy lots of pigskins. Use them as burial shrouds.
I don’t think that Israelis will be handling any pig skins even if it’s to bury Muslims . . . .
If they are looking for Gentile volunteers, where do I sign up? I do barbecue regularly and have no religious qualms about handling pork, or the summary execution of captured terrorists. And on the latter I believe the Geneva Convention is likewise silent.
Eleutheria5,
you are in the occupied?
Tell us the feelings right now???
Pretty full ledger for one.
I understand how everyone wants him back
but at this cost???
You have to know many more will die as a result.
How’s that going to go over when it does and is proven??
Thanks
Waiting for a storm to break. Tomorrow, things ought to be quiet. Next day, who knows? North Hebron is right near tiny Remat Mamre where I live. I can hear the loudspeakers on the mosques, calling prayers five times daily, occasional harangues against...guess who? In spite of it all, mine and I will probably get through it all ok. I trust my fellow villagers completely, the government hardly at all.
Wish I were twenty years younger and trained in the ways of war. Soon as I’m legally able to, I’ll get a pistol.
Contact the Israeli consulate in New York, or embassy in DC. They can fill you in.
At this point I think you'd better be trying to acquire a rifle. If you have to use that pistol, it'll already be too late.
I don’t know how to shoot any long arm larger than a .22. A pistol is all the deterrent I need, and I’ve at least got some range time with 9 mm fmj and .38 wadcutter. For actually defending myself if attacked at home, I’ve got a large and a small piece of rebar and some kitchen knives. But as you say, if it comes down to that, it’s already too late.
But this hill is my place in this world. It doesn’t belong to me as much as I belong to it. I’ll defend it with my teeth and nails if I have to. Reassuring that the IDF is here to make sure that I don’t have to.
Here I could arm a platoon.
What do you mean, “Soon as Im legally able to, Ill get a pistol”?
They do not allow you to arm and protect yourself?
What’s the deal there?
The authorities do not understand there are a whole lot of folks wanting to slit your gizzard?
If you can shoot a .22 rifle, you can shoot a .223 rifle.
Ill defend it with my teeth and nails if I have to.
Your spirit is admirable. But I would think you'd exhaust all your options before that time came. A rifle is a very good option to have.
Reassuring that the IDF is here to make sure that I dont have to.
We have a saying in this country "When seconds count, help is only minutes away." What are you going to do until the IDF arrives? What if they're busy elsewhere? What if they're under attack themselves?
What will you do then?
Trust in G-d. It’ll be another 18 months before I can get licensed for any kind of firearm anyway. The IDF is everywhere and in place at times like these. They have a camp one klik away, midway between here and Kiryat Arba. There’s another one in Hebron. They have armored vehicles and foot patrols all over the place, as well as divers surveillance capabilities, fast-movers up in the sky, and assault copters.
They understand. Living out here, you are automatically qualified on the basis of need, but you still have to be a citizen for at least three years, or belong to a security firm. I have ‘til March of 2013 to wait.
My best protection is the mezuzot on my doors.
Man, I hope GOD blesses and protects you.
Personally I like sleeping next to my Kimber .45 and dog to alert me.
Exactly how many arab killers have those stopped in the past?
