What values do you look for in a candidate?

Doesn’t matter - just trash Perry even when he fights for the values that are dear to Free Republic.

Well a person that could walk and talk and chew gum at the same time. Would be a good place to start, then add “none life time politician” and the absolute requirement they support the rule of law. Need more?

Are there really enough homosexuals in Texas for "mass demonstrations"? I'd bet these are merely leftists posing as such.

How has you cadidate fought for our values? Perry has been a strong advocate for our values for many years but you choose only to use condescending attacks on him to turn people against him and away from his message on fighting for our values.

Why don’t you show how your candidate has been better for fighting for our values rather than trashing Perry as he fights for family values?

the need for pro-family laws that will provide safety and protection for ALL Texas families

The ALL-CAPS in the word ALL means that they are including anyone who wants to get married, including bigamists, plural marriagists, people wanting to marry family members or pets. Right?

Otherwise, they want to exclude some people from "marriage", I want to exclude other people from "marriage", why are they more right than me?

you mention the Sierra club.
I went to a meeting of theirs to see what they get up to and what they say.

Now they are supposed to be about wildlife, etc.
are they hell.

They talked about getting salads etc in the local schools, they talked about looking to get certain people elected in certain areas and in their words that night “taking over counties one by one”

There was only 11 people there including 5 high school girls of whom were pushing their school to change their menu’s at lunch.

Two groups you'll never see go after Rick Perry: * LaRaza * CAIR

Gov Rick Perry spoke to LaRaza about the drug cartels, shared responsibility of border security and that it is Washington's responsibility to secure the border -- that the Federal government should support the military, deliver the mail and secure the border -- and they aren't doing their job. [HE RECEIVED a lot of applause] He spoke of the money Texas spends securing the border, that it must be sealed and then we can sustain legitimate commerce...He told about protecting the sanctity of the vote and strengthening our shared values, family, faith hard work -- they are TEXAS values and we should unite as citizen's of one Nation under God and concentrate on what unites us. He told his Cuervo joke and they found it funny unlike the Liberal Latino Leaders Give Perry Lukewarm Response (or more likely they'd heard it before)

*********************************************************

CAIR Disappointed with Rick Perry, and That’s a Good Thing........."Unfortunately, as I described in “Perry is not the 5th column candidate” this weekend at Pajamas Media, some took the bait. A few writers unleashed hell on Perry, probably not realizing that the governor’s relationship with the Ismailis could be used to further alienate and minimize CAIR, ISNA, and other Muslim Brotherhood-linked unindicted coconspirators in American’s largest terrorism financing trial. I argued that this lack of “connectivity” to groups that promote political Islam and Shariah was a smart move on Perry’s part:".............

Amil Imani: Governor Perry's Islam Connection Being a lifelong critic of Islam, red flags popped up in my head at Perry's purported cozy relationship with Islam and prompted me to look very closely at the governor's record on this particular issue and at this specific time...... ….No matter how I tried, I couldn't reach the conclusion that this inclusion promotes Islam or is pro-Sharia. It seems that the mere fact that Islam is included in the curriculum represents supporting it. And with regard to the concern that the education curriculum Perry promoted is pro-Arab and against Israel, the evidence is exactly the opposite. The lesson on Israel reads:…..”

David Stein: Debunking the Rick Perry “Pro-Shraria” School Curriculum Myth…….”Salon.com recently pulled a neat little trick, one that is currently paying great dividends The liberal mega-site recently ran a piece that essentially accuses Governor Rick Perry of being a “pro-Sharia candidate” (complete with a ridiculously crude photoshopped image of Perry standing next to a Muslim crescent). Of course, the title of the piece, “Rick Perry: The Pro-Sharia Candidate?” ends with a question mark. Ha ha! It’s not an accusation – it’s just a question! Aren’t we clever, Salon.com.”……….

*******************************************************************

Gov Perry's stand against amnesty is summed up pretty well by Marco Rubio:

November 2009: Rubio: Reagan erred in supporting 1986 amnesty for illegal immigrants“If you grant amnesty, the message that you’re sending is that if you come in this country and stay here long enough, we will let you stay. And no one will ever come through the legal process if you do that.”

Rubio said the U.S. must first get control of its borders and its visa system, which often allows people to enter legally but remain after their visas expire.

“Only after you deal with illegal immigration in a serious way — seal the border and the visa problem — can you then create a legal immigration system that works. That still leaves you with 11 million people that are here illegally,” Rubio said.

While criticizing amnesty for those illegals, he also rejected the idea of a massive “police-state” roundup. He suggested requiring tamper-proof residency and guest-worker cards and fining employers who don’t verify that their workers are legal. That, Rubio said, would bring the 11 million figure down “dramatically by attrition.”

Asked later about about Reagan’s support for amnesty, Rubio said, “I think he did it for the right reasons, but I think it ended up working the wrong way.”

Rubio’s no-amnesty stance on illegal immigrants has drawn some criticism from immigration hard-liners who say Rubio didn’t advance the issue when he was House speaker and the collapse of federal immigration reform efforts led state legislators around the U.S. to propose a variety of state-level immigration measures."......

Majority? That is your argument?

You can’t defend your candidate’s record of never taking a real fight for anything.

So you say the majority don’t care about other candiates record of fighting for family values?

Wrong, the voting conservative are not going to support a liberal attack on them. But I know you will think that is a heartless comment.

Rassmussen Election 2012: Obama 49% Perry 35%

Perry should drop out and endorse Cain. He is only helping Romney otherwise. Any vote for Perry is a vote for Romney at this point.

No he shouldn’t because the vetting is just beginning with Cain. His gaffes and flip flops are big enough to know that he just might get knocked down like the others. There hasn’t been one vote cast yet.

The others led the polls because they weren’t yet known. Herman Cain has been in this race for a long time. He has risen to the top of the polls, not because of people projecting themselves onto him, but because people HAVE gotten to know him.

Herman Cain is all anyone is talking about here in South Carolina. The poll today that shows him up 16% is no surprise to me.

When others had their flirtation with being frontrunner, the field wasn’t set. Now it is. There simply isn’t a viable alternative to Cain. All that the also-rans like Perry can do is throw stones and maybe elect Romney.

That is why I say that Perry should drop out and stop his pointless campaign. He had his shot and he blew it.
