BLUFFTON, S.C. (AP) — Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney on Thursday dropped some names of potential running mates in the 2008 race, but added such speculation is a bit premature.

Among those Romney mentioned for the second slot on the Republican ticket were three Southerners: South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich of Georgia, and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush.

Michelle Bachmann is no longer running for president. Now, she dreams only of being Mitt’s running mate.

Politicians should be judged by the company they seek.

IMHO, Newt is in the tank for Romney, shoring up conservative votes.

He had to have had a brain lock. He was wanting to pander to South Carolina and this is the name that came into his mind. Newt Gingrich and Jeb Bush are almost as much WTFs??? as Sanford.

If he meant what he said, then he not qualified to be President. We already have one fool in the White House.

Yes, we all know that Bachmann was never more than a stalking horse for Romney, but she was ordered to turn that role over to Herman Cain. It's all a plot to stop The Only One Who Can Beat 0bama: Rick Perry! He can't talk straight, he loves La Raza, he thinks Islam is a great religion, but He Is The One! He is the next Reagan! /s

Oddly, Hillary and, Yes, Newt Agree to Agree

By RAYMOND HERNANDEZ
Published: May 13, 2005

WASHINGTON, May 12 - What do Newt Gingrich and Hillary Rodham Clinton want from each other?

In the 1990’s, these two rivals stood on nearly opposite ends of the political spectrum; he led the assault on the Clinton presidency and helped derail the ambitious health care plan she championed.

But oddly enough, something has changed since then, and it has people talking.

Mr. Gingrich, the former House speaker, has been working alongside the former first lady on a number of issues, and even appeared with her at a press conference on Wednesday to promote - of all things - health-care legislation.

But more puzzling than that, Mr. Gingrich has been talking up Mrs. Clinton’s presidential prospects in 2008, to the chagrin of conservative loyalists who once regarded him as a heroic figure. Last month, he even suggested she might capture the presidency, saying “any Republican who thinks she’s going to be easy to beat has a total amnesia about the history of the Clintons.”

(snip)

That has been obvious in the past three debates. Her job for Romney was to keep attacking Perry.

“...Newt Gingrich and Jeb Bush are almost as much WTFs??? as Sanford...”

Jeb Bush would have to grow a spine to deserve the title of milktoast. Plus Jeb brings back all that ole Bush popularity.
