Impeach Eric Holder: The attorney general has lied to Congress

It's time for Congress to impeach Attorney General Eric Holder.

Congress may remove from office "all civil officers of the United States" if they are convicted of "treason, bribery or other high crimes and misdemeanors," the Constitution says (Article II, Section 4).

Only the House of Representatives can impeach, which is comparable to indictment. The official is then tried by the Senate, where a two-thirds vote is required for conviction.

The Constitution doesn't say what constitutes "high crimes and misdemeanors," but perjury surely is among them. So is obstruction of justice.

Seriously, this guy is lying, covering up a horribly flawed program to undermine the Second Amendment, and arrogantly claiming:

"As I have said, the fact that even a single gun was not interdicted in this operation and found a way to Mexico is unacceptable. Equally unacceptable however, is the fact that too many in Congress are opposed to any discussion of fixing loopholes in the laws that facilitate the staggering flow of guns each year across our border to the South."

I can just picture Mitch McConnell and John Boehner telling Issa to cool down his investigation, as it may upset the precious independents.

The House may impeach, but the Senate will never convict.

Holder (and Obama) will gain from impeachment, because the Senate will in effect find him “not guilty” and they will tout that going into the election.

Better for Issa to run a competent and thorough investigation that hangs Holder’s crimes around his neck with no opportunity for a show trial and an exoneration. Make Barky dump him — much better than impeachment without conviction.

Drumming these bad seed out of office is the ultimate victory.

As much as I would love to see Holder in handcuffs, I find it ironic that anyone would suggest that lying to “Congress” should be a crime. Congress is the clubhouse for liars, thieves and con artists.

I can see Issa slowly and methodically building the case. I doubt Holder will last long enough to be impeached. I think Obama will crack and demand his resignation first.
