Gov. Jerry Brown has signed California Dream Act, legislator says
LA Times ^ | 10-08-2011 | LA Times

The lawmaker who authored the California Dream Act said Saturday that Gov. Jerry Brown has signed the bill allowing Illegal immigrants attending California universities to receive state financial aid.

Brown's office declined comment, and an announcement on the legislation has not yet been made.

But Assemblyman Gil Cedillo (D-Los Angeles) said he was notified Saturday morning by the governor's aides that Brown has approved the measure, which makes illegal immigrants who are accepted into state universities eligible, starting in 2013, for Cal-Grant assistance.

The governor’s action also allows those without citizenship papers to tap into institutional grants while attending the University of California and California State University systems, and to get fee waivers in the California community college system.

Cedillo praised Brown as an "incredible leader with the vision and courage'' for signing the bill despite its great controversy.

Jerry “Moonbeam” Brown was a flake of a Governor many years ago, and has improved with age about as well as vinegar does.

California finances are a total shambles. The last thing California should be doing is putting out more honey to attract additional millions of illegal aliens who take U.S. citizen jobs and who take U.S. citizen tax funds via all the freebies the illegals.

HEY, wannabe students of the California collegiate system, here is an opportunity for you.

When you apply to the State University system of your choice in California, tell them that you are from Canada or New Zealand and request "in-state tuition" AND "financial aid".

DO IT! The registration offices obviously now can't contest your address. They now have to rubber stamp your request and you get the in-state tuition and aid as do the illegals.

Seriously, go for it kids. Apply as an immigrant from whatever country you choose, as long as you have some kind of documentation to show you lived there. Probably nothing more that a phone bill.

Someone should post this on Dummies R Us. I'm sure the more astute (big word for dumbasses) know what I'm doing here.

I really think EVERY college minded student in the Southwest should take advantage of California (in-state tuition) AND the new law that allows for financial aid to just about anyone, legal or not.

Have a great time with your feminist, drama, cultural, journal, racial studies on my dime. Wave when I drive by your house while you're living in your parents basement or spare bedroom or 15 to a house. But hey, you got a huge break on tuition because no California legislature has the cojones to protect their own citizens.

You can always use your books for a coffee table. Just get a level from Home Depot to make sure things don't run downhill. Oh, wait you can't afford a level. In that case, just use your t-shirt to mop stuff up. It's okay - t-shirts dry out. Oh, sorry, I forgot you got another kid on the way. In that case, look around for old bedsheets - they make great cleaning cloths.

OR...you could always go back to Mexico and use your USA education to better your pathetic homeland you are so proud of...

"California is in its terminal phase, a lost cause. Leave it as it is".

Yup. Unfortunately, many of us just can't pack up leave. Jobs, family, friends, circumstances keep many of us from bailing. Believe me, if it weren't for my wife's aging parents, we would have been out of here and into Arizona about 4 years back.

"My son plays basketball at a junior college out there, and I have to pay out of state tuition. I wonder if he can fake his citizenship?"

Now, I'm not suggesting you or your son do anything illegal, but check into the requirements on the forms for California "in-state" tuition. Also, check out the newly signed AID for illegals. Think what ever country works with your ethnicity.

Again, I don't sanction illegal activities, but apparently illegal aliens can now get not only "in-state" tuition, but also get State AID/loans. Benefit your son while overwhelming the idiots in Sacremental.

I tried posting a thread to make my point more clear, but it was pulled...not sure why. Maybe on the verge of promoting unlawfulness. Personally, I don't think they got my point and thought I was a liberal. Doesn't matter. Help your kid and overwhelmed the pathetic Marxist indoctrinating education systems in the Republik of California.

Talk show host Michael Savage donated $5000 to Jerry Brown.

Savage is a fake.

Why are illegal immigrants given taxpayer-subsidized advantages that “out of state” students are not?

Brown did tweet he had signed this yesterday morning also. I was listening to talk radio in my car. The host,Ray Appleton, was outraged over the Dream act.

One professor called into the show, he said 60% of our students are on a free ride in college. He said with the DREAM ACT, it will now become 80%.

Then a father called in. FAFSA bases how much a student receives in grants by the parents income until the student is 24. The father said his son had always qualified for a grant until this year when he had made a lot less than the previous years.

Why? He said they raised the income level to qualify so they had plenty left over for the illegals. Supposedly, (I have not verified this)illegals can only get what is left over. So they just made sure plenty is left over.

Brown is turning California over to illegals and unions. He passed a bill this week that will hand over infrastructure jobs to unions. PLA’s which have been proven to stop minorities from getting work is part of the bill. Bush always refused PLA’s because of this. But Brown has to payback all his promises to those who elected him. Screw the rest of us who just pay taxes.

Brown would make a good VP for Obama when Biden decides to sit this one out. That way, all the Hispanic votes would be sealed for the Dems. Especially, after passing this bill!

Since California has no power to grant citizenship to these illegal aliens these PhD's can never be legally hired in any of "our" 57 states - including KALIFORNIA.

Live in a small farming pocket of hard workers and conservatices but I still call California "Commiefornia." Posted that on an alleged friends site from my fake fascebook site and he screamed," YOU THINK THAT'S FUNNY." I replied," No I think it's realistic."

Imagine a church going man like that not even calling me anymore. Should I apologize? Seriously, California is thee nannyiest of nanny states, I need to skeedaddle out of here before the once financial and beautiful farmland hub of the country falls into the "Pacifistic," from it's own indebtedness. Maybe I'll move to Alabama, and help all those farmers pick what needs to be picked if they allow me to work with a cane.

People in CA will truly support this. People there are still convinced that “the government” can solve all problems. They may be unable to learn truth.

What you seem to be saying is that the illegal populations are about as likely to obey a residency requirement as the criminals are to follow a D.C. “gun control” act.

Most of the American people could not interpret this montage if their lives depended on it. They lack understanding of public matters.

My friends at the UC say Brown is done after this term. He told them he would not run again. I want him to not even finish this term. I say recall now!

Hopefully Obama won’t think about Brown as a VP. Obama nominates people he wants to silence about who he truly is or payback. I doubt Brown has had anything to do with Obama’s corruption in the past. So Far!

Well, I’m heartbroken about it. Born and raised in California, I now have to stay and watch this mess.

At the high school where I work, a teacher asked the class (which is 99% Hispanic) who Thomas Jefferson was. No one knew... or cared. In English class we are discussing the American Personality in Literature. None of the students know what it is, or care. In History, we are studying US History and they can’t tell you a thing that Lincoln did. They root against America in international sports events. I was speaking with one student and he didn’t even know what a veteran was, though his own cousin turned out to be one.

These people will be voting in two years! Many are young citizens raised by illegal parents and they have been taught nothing about being American. We are here to be used as a system but there is no loyalty or gratitude there at all; and yet California and the Democrats want to load the voting registry with even more of these uneducated, disloyal voters who are ignorant of history.

Most such policies are about politics and power and money for politicians - both D or R. Both play both ends against the middle and sacrifice governing for the benefit of liberty and average US citizens for political advantage. We see it going on today as they both sacrifice the USA for their political job or Party advantage in 2012.
