Cain uses book tour to campaign in Houston area
HOUSTON CHRONICLE ^ | October 6, 2011 | Joe Holley

Posted on 10/07/2011 3:19:04 AM PDT by humblegunner

Herman Cain, the man who has pulled even in the GOP presidential polls with Texas Gov. Rick Perry was in the governor’s backyard Thursday, signing books in College Station and The Woodlands and giving a speech in Houston.

The former pizza executive has climbed from interesting also-ran to top-tier candidate in the last few weeks, buoyed by strong debate performances, a congenial public persona and conservative voters’ reluctance to give their heart to the long-running frontrunner, Mitt Romney.

In the latest Washington Post/ABC News poll, Cain is tied for second place with Perry with 17 percent of the vote. Romney leads with 25 percent.

With his opponents slogging through early-primary states, Cain is spending most of his time this week touting his book, This is Herman Cain! My Journey to the White House. Cain insists his presidential campaign and the book tour are complementary. It’s a way of building name identification.

“I don’t have national name ID. I don’t have millions of dollars,” he said at The Woodlands Mall Barnes & Noble, where hundreds of admirers gathered. Only the pundits consider his unorthodox campaign as a negative, he said.

We'll see if Cain gets some traction.

The more I look at Rick Perry and Mitt Romney, the better Herman Cain looks to me. He isn’t perfect but he’s better than either of the RINO’s. Bachmann remains my first choice but I could live with Cain.

More accurately, “Cain uses campaign to tour book”.

(Like Gingrich and Bachmann)

Fingers crossed on this one. He’s a smart guy and a very quick study. Hr has already grown since this campaign started. You can see it.

Since the Houston Comical is a very liberal rag (not even fit for bird cage liner duty) and never gets anything right, you need to consider the source.

What gets me is these idiots who want to say doing such a large book tour for a book named:This Is Herman Cain!: 'My Journey to the White House' isn't campaigning! It's almost funny if it wasn't so obvious.

Well they are spending their own money or campaign funds.

Unlike the Dipstick who is claiming his campaigning is for jobs, and using our money, our Air Force, Our secret Service Agents and Police protection, and our friggin Black Bus’s.

As long as they spend their own funds who cares if their book sales co-exists with their campaign?

The Ding Dong isn’t fooling anyone and should be investigated for unlawful campaign practices, for using OUR dollars instead of the Millions he is going around collecting illegally, but that won’t happen.

I don’t need this article to see what Herman is up to.

Funny, I don’t recall the Washington Compost referring to Obamalamadingdong’s campaign in ‘07-08 as being a “book tour” when Zero was hawking two ghost written “autobiography” books.....

Obama’s books actually were used to support his campaign, which also happens but is the inverse of Cain’s approach.

It worked for Obama and his stupid book. You know the one written by someone other than him.

Obama’s books actually were used to support his campaign, which also happens but is the inverse of Cain’s approach.

The name of Herman Cain's new book is This Is Herman Cain!: My Journey to the White House

How is this any different than what most POTUS candidates do when they are running for the office? If it were a "get rich quick scheme" book I could see your point, but it's not. The title says it all.....

Because most candidates don’t suspend campaigning for 6 weeks to go on a book tour two months before the primaries.

Also, Cain hasn’t built the regular campaign apparatus and, in case you haven’t noticed, he also hasn’t hit the policy briefs too hard. He seems to be just taking an a pass entirely on foreign affairs issues: “I’d hire the best, most informed people and then take their advice.”

Hey, it’s better than campaigning rather than running the country like 0. I think you have it backward—he’s having a book signing to help with campaigning.
