After endless hype and a delayed premiere, Terra Nova's $20 million dollar pilot finally roared into the primetime race last night. Steven Spielberg's gorgeous, CGI series had a decent start, but couldn't beat out Two and a Half Men or Dancing with the Stars.
While CBS ruled Monday night and ABC's Dancing with the Stars saw a ratings drop but stayed in second, Fox is calling Terra Nova's third place premiere a win. The action adventure series finally stomped onto screens Monday and managed to lure in around 9 million viewers with the promise of dinosaurs, time travel and family drama. That brought Two and Half Men down to a still impressive 20 million (from last week's 29) and didn't manage to beat Nancy Grace's nip slip, but was a decent start for Fox Mondays.

I watched part of it. Maybe it will get better.
I liked Terra Nova despite the predictable beginning.
I especially liked the part about them breaking the law by having a 3rd child because “It seemed like the right thing to do”.
Incredibly stupid premise. I won’t be watching.
I had some problems with the show. It seems theres been very little tech advances in 150 years. The vehicles and weaponry seem very 2011. Also I find it unlikely that the dinosaurs could withstand present day firepower the way they are shown to. I also wonder, and I dont know, if modern grains and fruit/veg would grow in soil of that era.
I did not watch the dinos, or anything else.
My interest level would directly proportional to the plausibility, i.e. Jurassic Park. Then the story line. Not sure how they could make this interesting.
“and puts Obama’s face on $1,000 bill “
*If* I were ever going to consider watching it, that possibility’s totally gone, now.
The $1000 dollar Obama bill was the future hell they were leaving behind.
That money with Obama’s face on it was actually almost worthless.
In the future, it takes a fistful of $1,000 bills to buy a stick of chewing gum.
Most people use them in place of toilet paper, because it’s cheaper.
I didn't find it entertaining, but to each his own.
I've been out of step with most network programming for decades.
I like to see Drew Barrymore and Harrison Ford guest star in an epi
together. Barrymore gets ripped in half by two dinosaurs
when she tries to reason with them, and Ford just pulls out
S&W .50 and drops both of them.
That may be so but Spielberg can still bite me.
:)
Jurassic Park and Avatar got married and had a baby...a lame baby...
I enjoyed it. I think the casting is excellent and the writing looks promising. Good effects.
I do have a problem with the premise. The whole “we’re killing the earth” meme is just getting old. First off— we’re just NOT in fact killing the earth. We’re making it cleaner. Our state of environmental awareness and science is improving all the time.
So... I’m just choosing to ignore that and concentrate on a bunch of people living millions of years in the past. I had the same problem with Serenity/Firefly... Great story, writing, casting... But the same tired premise. I was able to look past it though.
I tried to watch it with the hubby, and it just wasn’t interesting. Spielberg hasn’t really been captivating for a long time now. Most of the time, I would rather watch Youtube than most of the dull shows on TV like this one.
