SEOUL - A US military reconnaissance plane came under electronic attack from North Korea and had to make an emergency landing during a major military exercise in March, a political aide said Friday.

The aide said the plane suffered disturbance to its GPS system due to jamming signals from the North's southwestern cities of Haeju and Kaesong as it was taking part in the annual US-South Korea drill, Key Resolve.

I’d call that an act of war.

I’m just wondering if China finds value in North Korea, because they can try out strategy on real Western targets without repercussion.

Their people are eating grass and bark, but they have the technology to mess with GPS. Ummm, socialist priorities.

Too bad the crippled plane didn’t accidentally release any missiles that were accidentally aimed at the jamming signal’s origin, in all the confusion.

“I’m just wondering if China finds value in North Korea, because they can try out strategy on real Western targets without repercussion.”

I have long suspected that exact thought. Across multiple arenas.

OK A-holes let’s see if you can do the same with an in-bound ICBM!

Do not navigators learn to navigate without GPS?

I assume the plane was not so much forced down
as it chose to return to a known safe point
by non-GPS techniques

Misleading Headline?

More likely, the Chinese or Russians were paying the NKs to provide a deniable testing facility.

Our military should NOT be dependent on a bunch of satellites which can be jammed by Third World belligerents, or SHOT DOWN in the first few minutes of a real war with a high-level adversary like China.

“Emergency landing”? If we’re actually basing our WW3/4 strategy on the assumption that the worldwide GPS satellite system will be up and running, there is a huge problem. (Unless it was because they couldn’t tell where the DMZ was to the nearest centimeter.)

Sounds like a flaw to have planes that CAN’T FLY without a GPS signal.

Perhaps they are not telling the full story. More likely an EMP burst? Still, our warplanes navigation systems have no business being non-rad-hard

They managed to since March.....

Anything about Bush was “leaked” ASAP, due to him not cleaning out all the Klinton moles and traitors.

The use of the term “forced down” is an obvious embellishment. They probably turned back and landed thinking it was an on-board avionics problem.

Don’t forget NK has a long history of selling their military technology. It probably originated in China but is almost certainly in Iran by now.

Second that.

Unlike the Arabs, the Chinese and the Russians are as smart as hell. A show down with either of these two very nasty customers will spell the ‘A’ in Asymmetrical Warfare.
