NASCAR was founded in 1948, and five years later the sanctioning body staged a race in its Grand National Division at Atlantic Rural Exposition Fairgrounds on April 19, 1953. Since that first race in Richmond in 1953, the track has undergone three name changes, four configuration changes and one surface change, from dirt to asphalt. Lights were also added to the facility in 1991. RIR is the only track to hold all of its major events under the lights. Richmond's unique, .75-mile layout produces tremendous side-by-side racing, yet drivers obtain high enough speeds to give it a superspeedway feel. That rare combination still allows for the beating and banging that fans love, with the drivers' skill playing a major role. The track's fall date is now the final race leading up to the Chase. Richmond race thread is up! Ping
Poor Richmond gets saddled with some bad race names. The “Wonderful Pistachios 400?” Ugh.
Still, should be a great race as usual at RIR. I’m not a 24 fan, but I’ve been impressed with him this year. He’s looking like the Jeff Gordon of old. Maybe “Five-Time” got under his skin enough finally to light a fire under him.

Thread up so soon? It seems like the last race was just the other day!
Thanks Norm. Great looking thread!

It was.
Normal used to be threads got posted later in the week, then we got a FRFL thingy going on so we molted into a community building up to the big finale.. and sometimes , big wrecks. ;-)
I may or may not be there in person. I can’t decide. If I go Kyle Busch will win. If I don’t go, Dale Jr. will win.
In the Baraqqi Depression, any sponsor is a good sponsor, LOL.
Surprised to see you on, I heard you were bear hunting up at Estes...
Under water now here in Hershey.
Hershey Diner, Kentucky Fried, Piizza Hut, Bob Evans , etc..
The beer distributor is on higher ground and is saved.
There are benefits to this flood. The north american buffalo have never been this happy swimming in the creek at Zoo America (part of Hershey Park). It seems all the animals are perked up.
All work shifts down. Can't get in and out. Got the last shift out by boats.
Last count is we had 12 inches of rain in the last 24 hours. Wish we could send it to Texas.
It has been cold and raining for two days now. Reports of snow over some of the mountain passes. The Continental Divide is just to the west about 12 miles away. I expect to see snow on the peaks when the clouds clear. The bears will be hibernating soon, but probably still in the fall feeeding frenzy.
Thanks Nork!
Thanks! Good for the animals,, That’s a lot of rain.
It was freezing in MInniesoda yesterday, in the northern reaches anyway, frost advisory.. we’re hitting 90 plus here today
I do not do pistachios!
OD’ed on homemade pistachio ice cream one night and have not touched them since.
I didn’t get this Ping in time as my Pinger got turned off due to non-attention of the Ping-er or is it the Ping-ee?
Well Tork, the thread is only 6 hours old and once again you have killed it. I suggest you go back to the Garden thread where you can fool all of the people all of the time...
Watch out for Snooki throwing the green flag. Another poor decision by NASCAR particularly since it’s the 9-11 anniversary!!!
