Gerson is another inside the Beltway, totally out of touch, Bush cheerleader who is now getting panicky because it has finally dawned on him that a moderate, reasonable Republican (aka RINO), such Romney or Huntsman, might not win the nomination.

Gerson is delusional if he thinks Christie could win the nomination right now. He simply won't be an attractive candidate outside of the northeast. I find Christie's posture vis a vis the state unions admirable, but he is a very polarizing figure imo. Even in NJ Christie's approval rating is not exactly sky high. Plus, the man has to lose at least 50 to 75 pounds if he wants to run for national office.

Christie's entrance in GOP race might actually make it harder for Romney because that is who he would end up stealing the most votes from.

I don't know about Christie. He has his good points and he seems to be doing OK considering it's Jersey he's dealing with, but I have questions about his views on certain things.
Namely;

1)support of open borders.
2)support for the ground zero victory mosque(granted this is kind of a NY issue, but it shouldn't be)
3) his appointment of an islamist judge.
Now I admit I don't know his side of it, but these questions are troubling.

Christie is good for NJ just like Romney and Weld were probably good for MA, at least compared to what they had. That doesn’t even remotely mean he’d be good for the country.

Actually, the Dem that Weld beat, John Silber, was more conservative. Just like Poshard was more conservative than George Ryan in Illinois.

I admit that this is a selfish and foolish dream, but: I secretly wish Christie would get in the race just long enough to stay for a debate or two, and then drop out; wow, would those be fun! :)

My governor, whom I voted for twice, better keep his chubby tushie right here in the Garden State. There is MUCH WORK to be done here, he was elected to do it and he better do it.

In fact, I think I’ll drop a dime and give him a call, just in case he’s getting any ideas.

He’s young enough, he can run later.

Then why did Perry call Bush for advice on his Pres. campaign?? I’m not buying all the Bush/Perry hate. I know there was a little scuffuffle after Katrina, and maybe Babs is still ticked, but why would Perry get advice someone so dead set against him?

Christie is doing a good job in his liberal state, but he is too liberal for me to be a GOP Presidential candidate.

Now get it straight, McCain was Bush III. Obama will have to call Perry “Bush IV”.
