A family of self-proclaimed psychics enjoyed decades of luxury living including solid gold cigarette lighters but are now facing charges that could land them in federal prison...
The house is nice a two-story modern-style structure valued in the million-dollar range. But this picturesque waterfront Fort Lauderdale cul-de-sac boasts plenty of nice houses.
The Marks family of psychics never stood out here because of their domicile, or even their unusual way of earning a living after all, many neighbors had no idea what sort of business the family was in.

Victoria might be the only real psychic in the family. See, if you are truely psychic, you would know to split the scene before you are busted. Victoria split but the rest of the family stayed put to be busted. So they didn't know ahead of time about their impending bust.
*Sigh* (kick).
What is MOST disheartening to me is Jude Devereaux’s “involvement.” I have read several of Jude’s literary offering. 20mil to spare on psychics!?!?! Great googalie moogalie...I am stepping away from the internet and coming up with schlocky romance themed missives (apparently REALLY good money there!!!).

I’m sure the alleged victims will bring copies of their contracts into court with them for the trial.
The central crime here appears not to be pretending to be clairvoyant or tell fortunes, which would be a 1st Amendment protected activity, but in suckering their clients into leaving large sums of money with them (maybe these gypsies claimed they could make the money “lucky” or sumfin) then (of course) keeping the money rather than giving it back. Most clients would feel too sheepish to complain to police, but apparently some did.
Their real name is “Marks?” Isn’t that what cons call their victims? I guess you gotta feel a little bit sorry for the Marks marks.
You’re right, they should have seen this one coming. Once while visiting the French Quarter, I saw a teeshirt saying, “Psychics have seen it all before.” Sounds like the Marks family needed to know that. ;)
