PRINCETON, NJ -- Rick Perry's candidacy has attracted strong initial support from Republicans who identify themselves as supporters of the Tea Party movement. Perry leads by 21 percentage points over the closest contenders among this group, Mitt Romney and Michele Bachmann. Among Republicans who say they do not support the Tea Party movement, Romney and Perry are essentially tied.
These results are based on an Aug. 17-21 Gallup poll, which showed Perry overtaking Romney as the front-runner for the 2012 GOP presidential nomination among all Republicans nationwide.

I find that a bit hard to believe.
Yes. Apparently we are to believe that.
That said, if the primary/caucus were held today, I'd vote for Perry.
Yes.
We need someone who can reach across the aisle and work with the left.
We can’t win in 2012 if put a candidate up there who only looks to the radical fringe of the base for their support.
We need Rick Perry.
/sarc(??????????)
35% of the people who agree with the TEA Party does not make them TEA Party. Right now, even a fair number of Liberals would say they agree due to how Obama is performing.
One only needs to look at Perry’s dismal record on tax increases and immigration to come to that conclusion.
Why.... YES. That is exactly what we are to believe. Well, according to some people on this forum anyway. One just a few posts down from yours.
Perry is going to "work with the left."
I don’t know enough about this guy yet to make a decision. Aren’t we all sick and tired of all the polls. I wish I (or the media) could shut down for 3 or 4 months, let the dust settle, and then start thinking about the 2012 campaign. My first take was for Cain and he is my first choice but.....
He said:
We must say to every Texas child learning in a Texas classroom, we dont care where you come from, but where you are going, and we are going to do everything we can to help you get there.
And that vision must include the children of undocumented workers.
I’m chosing the candidate named “Notobama”.
Chill Polly Parrot!
Eat a cracker.
Perry expressed his pride in the enactment of the statute extending in-state tuition to children of undocumented workers.
Which was supported by most of us Texans. It was a choice not to punish children for the sins of their parents. It also mandates that they must have attended the majority of their High School education in Texas and graduated from a Texas High School AND they must apply for US citizenship and not have any major criminal convictions to be eligible. That makes it only available to a very small group of illegals, and if they take advantage of it we end up with well educated US Citizen when they are done.
But I suspect you know that but don't include it in your post because that would not serve your purpose.
As for your attacks on our schools, I also suspect you know that you are using skewed data coming from the Wisconsin Unions. But when you actual figure in the break down of our much larger population of students and by minority groups you will see that Texas out performs almost all the schools in the country including in minority groups.
Attack Rick Perry all you want, but don't attack my state with inaccurate leftist data.
While you’re at it:
Who do you think is in the tea party? They’re are fiscal democrats and a lot if independents and moderates. The tea party isn’t just what you are or want them to be.
Palin and Bachmann are not the only two people involved with the Tea Parties. Perry was involved almost from the start. Without overstating it had he not become involved with them when he did his last re-election campaign might not have gone as well. Being an early supporter gave him protection from Medina until her Truther allegiance was revealed.
I know certain factions want to believe their favorites are “owed” the support of these groups but it doesn’t work that way when you have more then one in the race who was onboard from near the start. At least four running this year were. Aside from the 3 I mentioned I know Cain was.
