Karl Rove To Sarah Palin: Get A "Thicker Skin"
Real Clear Politics ^

Posted on 08/25/2011 9:01:23 AM PDT by indianrightwinger

Karl Rove responds to controversy over his speculation if Fmr. Gov. Sarah Palin will indeed enter the GOP field. Rove said chances are she will jump in, but was not definitive in his observation.

"I'm mystified," Rove said about reaction to his speculation. "Look, she is all upset about this saying how I am trying to sabatouge her in some way. How do I speculate on her future."

"Look, if she doesn't want to be speculated about a potential presidential candidate there is an easy way to end the speculation. Simply say 'I'm not running.' Instead, every time she pops up in the public eye like she did on CNN, at the Iowa State fair a short number of days ago. she said 'I haven't made a decision.'"

"I'm just speculating that more likely than not she is going to be a candidate."

"Now I said 'I wouldn't bet a lot of money on it' because it is such a close thing and I am not privy to her thought-making process. But it is sign of enormous thin-skin that if we speculate about her, she gets upset. And I suspect if we didn't speculate about her, she would be upset and getting ways to get us to speculate about her."

Oh please. Palin has seen nothing like what Reagan and W. Bush received from their critics.

I wish he would just go away. I think Bush would have won the 2004 by more if he did not have Rove advising him.

Karl-
Thank GWB for the $4 trillion debt.
You really did Republicans (Americans) proud.

Both Rove and Palin know what the reality of a Sarah Palin GOP nomination would be.

Aug 22, 2011 ...Rasmussen Poll: Obama Crushes Palin Among Women Voters ..... A new Rasmussen poll shows Obama beating Sarah Palin 50 percent to 33 percent in a 2012 contest -- better than his performance against any other Republican. Among women, Obama is crushing Palin 56 percent to 29 percent. ..... Rasmussen polls tend to predict Republicans will perform better than they actually do on election night.

It would be an Obama landslide of Biblical proportions.

Rove wants to end the teasing game and has raised expectations that Palin will announce on September 3 in order to put Palin on the spot.

Palin wants to continue the teasing game as long as possible and is therefore upset at Rove.

Why does Rove want to end the teasing game?

Because it does nothing but increase attacks upon serious GOP candidates and that helps Obama.

Why does Palin want to drag out the teasing game as long as possible?

Because it hypes her celebrity status which means more TV contract money, more book sales and higher speaking fees.

Note to Fox: Whenever Karl Rove is on one of your shows, I will immediately change the channel to Jewelry TV, Outdoor Channel, or Gem TV.

I may or may not switch back for a few hours.

If you had no ready response, it means that you had not yet familiarized yourself with the facts. This is true of any situation/argument. One must know the facts. I’ll leave it to you to obtain them. It is not hard to do. I could simply provide them, but I’ll spare you having to do a 2-step process of first hearing them from me and then going to the trouble of verifying them.

The facts are there. The reasons for her resignation are both valid and honorable. I have no doubt that you’ll find that to be so as well. And may I also say that if you don’t know those facts, then ‘loving her dearly’ is invaid. You should rightly see her as a quitter for as long as you don’t know the reasons behind her resignation.

I don't trust the guy; I don't trust his motives.

Same here. The guy is a slimy snake.

He is doing similar to Perry. He keeps repeating "You can't accuse someone of a crime punishable by death" in reference to Perry's Bernanke comments. Instead of just saying he said "treasonous" which everyone takes as rhetoric.

But no. He has to dramatize what he said to really throw him under bus.

He says it during every interview. He's a puke.

“Sarah upset at speculation”

She’s not upset at speculation. She’s upset at lies claiming that she’s revealed what she’s going to do.

There is no person, male or female, who has been attacked like Sarah Palin has.

She (and every member of her family)has been systematically trashed in the media and he thinks she gets upset with his bullsh!t??

She is much stronger than any politician I have ever seen. So many have retreated under a rock for far less scrutiny.

I am well aware of her reasons for resignation: She had to fight off all of those bogus lawsuits. She needed to make money to defeat them.

We ALL know this. We ALL follow the inside baseball stuff. This is tough to explain to independent voters who don’t follow politics carefully like we do. Many see SP as an opportunist who wanted to cash in on her celebrity status and go on reality TV shows and write books and become an FNC commentator.

As for me personally, I am a big fan who supports all of her views and positions.

My wife is an independent voter-—does not like BHO at all. But she said of SP, if she can’t handle all of the flak she was getting in Alaska, how is she going to handle it on a national level? I had no ready response.

You need to tell your wife that all those frivolous lawsuits cost Alaska voters $2 Mil. Should Palin have stayed and cost them $4 mil? 6?

Also point out that every suit was brought by a Dem and ALL were dismissed.

I think Rove was just trying to get her to say one way or the other. I don’t see anything nefarious in his comments and people here comment all the time on whether person x will run or not.

Palin has seen nothing like what Reagan and W. Bush received from their critics.

Reagan and GW have never had their 2 yr old baby called a retard and much worse. Or their other underage children targeted by gossip, name calling and slander by "journalists".

Now have they?

Is Rove trying to goad Gov. Palin into making a move? I suspect she will have one of two options: 1. Say/do nothing. (my choice) Why dignify this with a response? 2. An acerbic post to her facebook notes. Either way, she won’t let him control the dialogue in this, or any situation. He’s not the boss of her, and he needs to go over there, sit down, and shut UP.

Why now? Well, I’m very concerned about the way BHO is systematically taking the country apart—bit by regulatory bit, and I’m searching frantically for leadership that will champion my side loudly and urgently until election time (if that occurs). Right now, Perry is the one taking on that role, and because he is displaying the courage to take on that role, I will stand up for him. I do not know about Palin — whether she really wants the presidency or is better suited as a powerhouse on the sidelines. For me, I would like to know because I do not view the election as a game—but life or death for our representative republic. Thank you for your response.
