Since we are likely to see more interesting numbers in the near future which will call for you to make similar posts, would you mind adding an abyss category? I believe the worst number was -4 or -5.

"Oh my. I think I’m gonna declare my intention to run!"

The most under-reported story is that the many GOP candidates is the result of a weak GOP field but to the fact that many sense blood in the water, and know Obama is becoming more beatable with every passing month.

.......And more are coming: Patookie, likely Palin, maybe Christie, maybe Ryan, maybe others.

Done. See Post 71

Worst Abyss was -6.

I will include the Abyss rating in future posts on the Rasmussen poll.

But wait. I thought that brilliant photo Drudge posting of Obama slurping ice cream would turn it around. Don’t voters love to see The Won effetely lapping up a heaping helping of vanilla soft swirl?

Apparently not.

"How is the “abyss” calculated?"

Abyss is Total Approve minus Strong Disapprove.

The premise is Total Approve represents the most votes a President can get, and the Strong Disapprove represents those who will come out to specifically vote against the President. A negative Abyss rating generally is seen as certain defeat, because you can't overcome the Strong Disapprovers even if you manage to motivate even your marginal supports to go to the polls.

“I’ve always thought it was redundant to add the numeric form in parentheses after the word form, but maybe not... “

It’s done for emphasis. Like you might say, ‘Obama says he has visited fifty-seven (57!) states’.

It’s just an idiomatic way of saying, ‘Don’t miss this number!’.

“19% of the nation’s voters Strongly Approve. These folks need to be deprogrammed.”

Good luck:
11.9% of U.S. workers are union members and 12.9% of these members are black:
http://www.bls.gov/news.release/union2.t01.htm

12.6% of Americans are black:
http://quickfacts.census.gov/qfd/states/00000.html

There’s 234 million adults age 18 or older in the U.S.
http://quickfacts.census.gov/qfd/states/00000.html

So if you add all adult union members who are not black to all adults who are black, you end up with 18.1% of the adult population. These people are simply voting their interests (or their perceived interests). Until blacks wake up and realize just how bad Obamanomics has been for them (http://www.progressive.org/mpford071211.html), the 19% may be an impenetrable floor of Obama support.

Let's not gloat about this now, but instead keep our eyes on the prize, the 2012 presidential race. Remember that some of this disapproval of Zero may be coming from the Left and will not translate into votes against the anointed one.

Some vexing possibilities that we may have to overcome:

The withdrawing of Obama from the race. (Remember LBJ?)

Obama challenged on the 'Rat side and will not be their nominee (though this not likely).

The entrance of Donald Trump as a third party candidate to split the GOP vote. (Remember Ross Perot?)

The possible nomination of a GOP candidate who, while not quite McCain, may not be very popular among conservatives.

Not being pessimistic here, only realistic.

:: He only knows how to be an uber-liberal ::

I think the real problem becomes when Obamugabe is viewed by the ^uber-libs^ as not “uber” enough and then the ^progessive liberals^ see him as not moderating enough to get the communist ideology in place.

We are a truly divided politic (note, not a divided culture or a divided people)...communist v. (representative republic) constitutionalist.

God help and keep the latter!

Let's not forget that he's the head of the party that believes people should vote early and often, and never be reaquired to show picture ID when doing so.

Good point. The GOP has to get much more serious about combating voter fraud in all its various forms.

On his radio show last week, Rush Limbaugh, in response to a caller's question about fraud, skirted the issue by saying that if Republicans can win by a hefty margin, no amount of 'Rat fraud could change the outcome. I would agree that there are practical limits on what fraud can accomplish numerically, so Rush is correct to that extent.

But why should some closer races be allowed to be stolen by their various forms of cheating? I'm afraid that too many in the GOP want to avoid a confrontation on this, fearing that they might be tarred as "racists" by the Dem cheaters.
