>>>"You may have a point there," Perry quipped, adding that he believed the issue had become politicized.<<<

Perry is right.

Rubens is wrong.

Perry has the facts.

Rubens has opinion.

The Union of Concerned Scientists is a Leftist group.

I'll note (since this is an LA Times article) California (which is going bankrupt) has dumped multi-millions of taxpayer dollars into this fraud and are asking for more to cover the “research” and pay huge salaries for the “scientists.”

..........>>>>Climate skeptics love Perry, and this kind of rhetoric is why. While Mitt Romney is out and about on the campaign trail agreeing with the overwhelming scientific status quo on the topic, Perry appears poised to take up a view of climate change on the presidential campaign trail that would be right at home in a Sen. James Inhofe (R-OK) floor speech.<<<.......

It’s nice to see people in visible positions question global warming; it has replaced true religion for many young people, and can’t hurt to have it exposed publicly.

Rubens, an investor who works in the clean-energy sector, asked Perry how he reconciled those views and his assertion that the Earth is "experiencing a cooling trend" with findings that fossil fuel combustion is the primary cause of global warming and...Earth surface temperatures have risen above the 20th century average every month since the mid-1980s.

Rubens has put forth a number of unsupported assertions as fact. Rubens has to set aside all results by "scientists" who have been funded to prove warming is caused by man. Set the results aside until they can be affirmed by truly objective scientists.

Rubens claim that Earth surface temperatures have risen every month is highly questionable. What are his assumptions, data, and methodology to support that claim? Are the sources of "data" biased?

Perry is correct that global warming caused by man is unproven and baseless.

NASA’s Hansen
PENN STATE’s Michael Mann
East Anglia’s Climate Research Unit.....

Plus dozens of other ‘climate scientists’ caught omitting, manipulating and falsifying temperature data in the infamous EA CRU email spill debacle.

Yep, I’d say Rick Perry was right on target - catching a lot of flak for being on final approach and “bombs away!”

NEVER LET THESE PEOPLE FORGET THIS EMAIL CONSPIRACY! NEVER!

He’s right on this issue. I have very strong reservations on this candidate otherwise, however, I am resigned to the cold hard fact that if he does get the nod, he would get my vote.

Perry calls global warming an unproven, costly theory -'manipulated data' to win research dollars

I like Perry a lot better due to this statement.

Of course the L A Slimes had to put their own lie in

His opinions put him at odds with the vast majority of experts

These is a vast majority that does NOT think globull warming is manmade.

The United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, made up of more than 2,500 scientists, found with 90% confidence

A nice appeal to authority there, doesn't mean they're right, but they have a lot of official sounding acronyms in their name. Of course if the lazy journalist would read other articles that aren't from the NY Times, then he would see just the sham that Perry speaks of and what a poor choice for authority the corrupt IPCC is.

it’s like e-mailgate never happened.

They are also ignoring the most recent numbers from NASA.

Perry and other AGW skeptics are Copernicus denying the “established” scientific consensus that the solar system orbits the earth.

Perry’s utterly refreshing on this issue.

I love how Rubens is a ‘Republican’. Like that means anything.

I love that Gov. Perry is speaking out on this. That said, I still need to hear (from him) his current stance on the blatant, criminal, and often hostile foreign invasion that is being tolerated along the US/Mexico border.

If the Texas Governor, of all people, doesn't think we need to act swiftly on this, we are DOOMED. This is America's #1 problem right now, and it's not that hard to fix. The cancer is spreading fast though, and our leaders are FAILING us.

Why identify Rubens as a "Republican"? Did the reporter ask him? Why did he ask him? Do reporters identify every questioner by party? If not, why not?

The reason for identifying this guys party (even though it stinks, as this guy's job depends on government largesse and the force of law) are obvious. Oh, reasonable Republicans believe in human-caused global warming, anyone who doesn't is an extreme fringe ignoramus.

Why is the LA Times losing readers year after year after year? Because people tire of being lied to and there are only so many extreme fringe leftwing nutcases, even in LA, to buy the paper.

If Gov. Perry is going to challenge gov’t. science, he should enlist the help of Pres. Eisenhower, who warned us about the dangerous collaboration between scientists and politicians in his farewell address. Right after warning the nation about the military/industrial complex, Pres. Eisenhower had this to say about gov’t science:

“The prospect of domination of the nation’s scholars by Federal employment, project allocations, and the power of money is ever present— and is gravely to be regarded. Yet, in holding scientific research and discovery in respect, as we should, we must also be alert to the equal and opposite danger that public policy could itself become the captive of a scientific-technological elite.”

E-mailgate made clear that Pres. Eisenhower’s warnings about a dangerous collaboration between corrupt Washington politicians and greedy scientists was a very real threat to our nation’s economic future. Naturally, foreign nations like it when we use stupid policies to lock up our own resources so that the energy supplies we import cost more.
