Muslims have been in the U.S. for at least 100 years. The Dearborn Islamic community began to develop around the turn of the last century. Until around 1980, Dearborn Muslims were virtually indistinguishable from other citizens. It’s only been in about the last 25 years that fundamentalism has grown among a segment of Islamic Americans. Still, the fundamentalists represent a small minority of all American Muslims.
I have friends, students, and relatives who are American Muslims. Those I know are good loyal citizens.
Ah, yes, I can see muzzlems wanting to sign the Declaration of Independence and helping to write the Constitution. Pfft!
