A Zeta Narcorepublic?
IBD Editorials ^ | July 27, 2011 | Staff

Border: Mexico's Zetas have drawn a bead on Guatemala's 2011 presidential election, and former U.S. officials say the cartel is stockpiling arms to do the same to Mexico in its 2012 election. Is there a White House plan?

Smuggling military-grade weapons from Fort Worth through El Paso and Columbus, New Mexico, the Mexican cartel known as Los Zetas may be doing so not just to fight other cartels but to disrupt Mexico's 2012 election, according to report quoting former officials in the El Paso Times that ran July 13.

Phil Jordan, a former director of El Paso's DEA Intelligence Center, and Robert "Tosh" Plumlee, a former CIA contract pilot, warned that Mexico's democracy could be in jeopardy as weapons sold through the U.S. Direct Commercial Sales program may end up with Zeta front groups. Last year, $416.5 million in sales went to Mexico through this program.

That corresponds to a similar warning from Mexico City on Wednesday. Guatemala's President Alvaro Colom said the Zetas pose a "serious threat" to Guatemala's democracy as it nears its Sept. 11 election.

Could two nations past our southern border go down to the Zetas and become narcostates? Obviously the cartels think so, based on the weapons they're trying to bring in — anti-aircraft missiles, grenade launchers, assault rifles, body armor and night vision goggles. If true, this qualifies as a foreign policy emergency and calls for a serious response from the White House.

Exhibit D: WH attempts to bring down the legitimate government of Honduras and install a Chavez puppet destablizing Guatamala's neighbor to the south.

Exhibit E: Operation Castaway run out of the Tampa ATF office "walking" as many as 1,000 rifles to the criminal organization MS-13 in Honduras.

Exerpt from Washington Post capturing SA Gill's statement. "“I would like to apologize to my former Mexican law enforcement counterparts and to the Mexican people for Operation Fast and Furious,” said Mr. Gil. “I hope they understand that this was kept secret from most of ATF, including me and my colleagues in Mexico.”

. Mr. Gil further said... “inconceivable” that any competent ATF agent would allow “firearms to disappear at all,” especially on an international border. As a result, he said, the Mexican people will continue to suffer the consequences of narcotics-related firearms violence.

My opinion, Newell wanted to be a real big shot, played politics with Obama and all got burnt.

Could someone please suggest the section of law that supposedly authorized the expenditures for this program?

Thanks.

I think there was an infusion of $10 million in “stimulus” funds from the taxpayers. I will also hazard a guess that some of these funds were siphoned off to fund illegal sales of arms that went to the drug gangs or buy off corrupt officials.

I had forgotten the courage shown by tiny Honduras to tell Obama to shove it up his candy ass. Wish we had more than a handful of GOP congress critters to do the same.

USA: Necrorepublic?

A "necrorepublic" would be "a republic of the dead" ... by analogy with "necropolis" = "city of the dead".

Except that "necro-" is Greek, and "republic" is Latin, so screwing them together like that is sort of a no-no.

And on second thought, I don't even think the Greeks had a concept or word for a "country" or "nation" the way we understand them.

GREEDY GREASY HANDS IN THE TILL----TIMED FOR OHAHA'S REELECTION: Vote-crazed Ohaha is desperate---he will do anything to get votes. Ohaha has done everything but don a sombrero and do the Mexican Hat Dance on the WH lawn.

THIRD WORLD AGIT-PROP ALERT Opportunistic Third World (cough) democracies want us to believe they are becoming narcostates based on weapons drug cartels are bringing in — anti-aircraft missiles, grenade launchers, assault rifles, body armor and night vision goggles. The buzz is Guatemala and Mexico are "ditching democracy to become narcorepublics, facilitated by savage Zetas."

LAUGH BREAK Cute how they use words like "democracy" to tap into the US Treasury. Third World grifters want us to believe this "qualifies" as a foreign policy emergency and they want a "serious response" from the White House.

Translation from the Hispanic: "gimme the money."

============================================

REFERENCE----WHAT IS THE MERIDA INITIATIVE? The US Congress passed legislation in late June 2008 to provide Mexico with $400 million nd Central American countries with $65 million that year alone, for the specific purpose of "fighting drug wars." The initiative was announced 22 Oct 2007 and signed into law June 30, 2008.

THE FACTS ARE THESE: The Third World is calculatedly staging the "war on drugs" and other border violence -- with a hidden agenda--to loot the United States treasury. Using deceit and guile, Mexico has infiltrated the US political system, from domestic to foreign policy, as well as L/E. The Mexican govt is sending millions of Reconquista shock troops from Third Worlds over the border (illegal aliens) coaching them about taking over the US system.

It is WELL known that the Zetas ‘gulf Cartel, a former "special forces unit" of the Mexican Army, has been in operation for years and has recently been recruiting openly in Mexico. In the border city of Reynosa a banner reads, “Former soldiers sought to form armed group; good pay, $500,” “The Zetas operations group wants you, soldier or ex-soldier.”

Mexican authorities said the signs were probably an attempt to "demoralize the soldiers and police," rather than a serious recruiting effort.

(waiting for hysterical laughter to die down)

==============================

Central/South America and Mexico are conning the US -----extorting US tax dollars to support Marxist/terrorist movement via the Merida Initiative----a despicable con game to arm its police and military using US tax dollars to protect terrorists and drug cartels who are moving across the border into the US. (Mexico is also the staging area for Central and South American Third Worlders, and terrorists from all over the globe, to invade the US.)

Clearly, the Mexican govt is fomenting drug violence in order to: (1) get billions of dollars in US assistance, and, (2) to help their populations flee over the border claiming they are victims of violence and need "asylum." Asylum claims gets illegals thousands of dollars in SS funds. It's a big scam---illegals are being financed and coached by Third World governments. The federales are salivating to get their dirty hands on trillions in US foreign aid---and they need a voting bloc to manipulate the US govt and loot the US Treasury.

ACTION NOW---Stop all funding for this con game. Tell your reps to stop funding the Merida Initiative scam now. No more US tax dollars for conniving Third Worlders.

This may sound fantastical but this could create a much larger humanitarian disaster because of narco state civil war. This may create a refugee situation where millions of Mexican flee north to avoid a narco strongman, much like in African nations.

The refugees come across the border begging for asylum, and the US has made it clear we will not refuse. Then amnesty is granted on humanitarian grounds and then you have a huge voter bloc to influence US policy.

This also may be by design by forces inside both nations to further the whole North American Union concept...

Mexico's Zetas have drawn a bead on Guatemala's 2011 presidential
election; former US officials say the cartel is stockpiling arms for the same
plan for Mexico's 2012 election. There's a similar White House plan.....

Oh, I think the idea that narco-terrorists want to and have the ability to take over countries like Mexico and Guatamala is more than agit-prop. That’s very real.

Is there a White House plan? [to oppose these impending upheavals]

The question pre-supposes that these struggles WERE NOT the plan --the plan is going just fine because this chaos IS the plan.

Unrefined Cocaine base can be bought for just $1,000, but for now Mexicans have been lacking for their own refinement channels in Central and South America. For this reason they have instead had to confine their earning power to just the last link of the total Cocaine wealth stream; selling finished Cocaine to the USA. They have had to buy those kilos for around $3,000 per key.

How might Mexican cartels TRIPLE their profits, while accepting only slightly more risk?

By muscling out traditional Coca refiners; by moving their profits upstream and becoming cocaine refiners --not just cocaine re-sellers.

But how might they do that? By heavily arming themselves with US weaponry.

The Obama admin would win new friends in Mexico --not people who loved US notions of government, but people loyal to them specifically. And as a twoofer, they'd move the ball much further down the field towards GUN CONFISCATION.

Public attention is on the budget, but to see where this is all headed it's good to learn about Obama's underlying values --what might be the values of man who had NO PROBLEM with killing hundreds of Mexican cops, and (so far) 2 US officers? Would such a man TRY to destroy the US economy....?

I raise the question because the lesson of Castaway/F&F is that the admin is OK with chaos as long as that gives CONTROL.

How many innocent citizens have been killed in the USA and Mexico because of F&F/Castaway...? That question has mostly been pushed to the side.

A couple months ago, it would have been fanciful to intone that a US administration had knowingly smuggled guns to the most dangerous narco-traffickers around --it would have sounded crazy.

What's the next crazy thing?

The next crazy thing is that a US administration could consent to complicity in the narcotics biz directly.
