Duncan Hunter: Reagan 'Would Never Be Elected Today' Because He's A 'Moderate/Former Liberal'(Video)
Little Green Footballs ^ | July 5th | Duncan Hunter (VIDEO)

Posted on 07/20/2011 6:23:17 PM PDT by Halfmanhalfamazing

(WARNING: The video on LGF goes to Soros Funded Think Progress. I didn't know why LGF linked to them at first, but I can't find the video anywhere else.)

HUNTER: This is it folks. This is it. There is nothing after 2012. [...] I don’t care if it’s a more moderate/former liberal like Ronald Reagan, who would never be elected today in my opinion. If it’s someone like him or a hardcore conservative, you gotta elect the most winnable person this time. I know it sounds bad, but Congress makes the law. You’ve got a conservative Congress. You’re one third there. [...] You gotta vote and get behind an electable person for president. I know after what I said, me saying that doesn’t go hand in hand. Obama's going to raise a billion dollars. He's going to hold on to this thing, the communists in this country, the community organizers in this country, are going to hang on for dear life. This is it for them. If they can change the balance of the scale of this country, they will affect it until our downfall.

Three thoughts on this comment:

1: His comment about the 'most winnable person', is he taking a swipe at Sarah?

2: Is Hunter falling prey to the liberal media's propaganda? I find it ironic that the reagan that the revisionists try to say really existed, if that new and much more liberal Reagan really did exist they would've voted for him big time!

3: Most of everything else he said sounds good. It's just the Reagan/revisionism part.

Dang, I thought you were pissant for a minute, Duncan, I love pork, Hunter was his hero. People just cannot get through their heads the Reagan election was a long time ago, it has nothing to do with the situation today.

Obama is not going to raise a billion dollars..Rove was on some show last night and he said there is no way he can do it as he would have to be at a fundraiser every other day until election day based on the what he raised so far in order to raise that much. He basically said his money is drying up...

Duncan D. Hunter (R-CA) is my *@#$ congressman in San Diego County.

He's the son of the (former Rep.) Duncan Hunter some freepers were enamored with in 2008.

What he's saying is that the idiot bleeding deacons around the conservative reservation, including the lesser children of FR, would today reject Reagan as a "rino flip-flopper."

Hey--if the shoe fits--put them both on.

Little Green Footballs - I remember that site. Useful for a while after 9/11, before the site owner got weird.

Different guy. This is his son, Duncan D. Hunter.

He was just a kid when Bush 41 was sworn in in '89.

Oh no. Does Congressman Spendy Spenderson wants Myth as President. That what I got from this. Who cares. This guy is irrelevant. His Pres campaign was a joke. Calling Reagan a Moderate is the stupidest thing I have ever heard.

BTW. Thank goodness Pissant isn’t here. I would be Freep Mailed to death on this heresy.

Lots of folks suddenly trying to redemocratize Reagan for their own reasons.

The democrats are doing it to try to fool people into supporting them and the RINOs are doing it in a desperate attempt to get conservatives to swallow their crap.

I’m 48 years old, I don’t fool easily.

I didn’t read the article, but some of the nitpicking on FR makes me think that we wouldn’t have agreed on Reagan with all of the details that can now be found and relayed on the internet.

Obviously Reagan was a great conservative, but the 100% aggreement on all the issues that some folks think they have to have would not have been met.

(I wonder if Reagan ever got a headache?)

The most winnable person would be the Democrat’s candidate. we must support the most conservative cnadidate that has a reasonable chance of winning.

I’m just sick of the way everyone has chosen to claim Reagan today.

The fact that he made mistakes makes him mortal but it doesn’t make me stupid. He was neither democrat or RINO as president so they may as well drop that line with me.
