WASHINGTON, July 15 (UPI) -- A new bipartisan debt-reduction panel will be told to devise a plan by year-end to stabilize the national debt, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said.

The committee of 12 lawmakers from both houses will be charged with drafting a long-term sovereign-debt plan whose recommendations will be fast-tracked to House and Senate votes without amendment, McConnell, R-Ky., told conservative talk show host Hugh Hewitt Thursday.

The committee will also identify savings in Social Security and Medicare and other entitlement programs to reduce the deficit, McConnell said after a fifth day of debt-reduction talks with top lawmakers and President Barack Obama at the White House.

The talks ended with little or no movement toward a deal and with Obama giving Republicans until early Saturday to tell him if any of three options for trimming the federal budget would win GOP support, officials said.

Obama was scheduled to hold an 11 a.m. EDT news conference Friday to discuss the negotiations.

Just like here in my personal finances, to get out of debt, I’ve got to STOP THE BLOODY SPENDING and pay off what I owe with what I make.

Then you use the difference to pay off your debt.

It’s so easy, any Joe Blow can do it.

We’re already making do with so much less. No car payments, paying down the mortgage, no credit cards, shopping at thrift stores, buying dented cans, using the clothesline instead of the dryer, shutting off the lights, taking “military” showers, cooking on the charcoal grill, you know, stuff like that.

That's where you make your first mistake. ALL OF IT is authorized.

It was authorized mostly by the last Democrat dominated House and Senate. They simply authorized more than we have!

The House has tried several "de-authorizations" but the Obama Regime rejects the idea. They don't want to give up a single penny and in fact demand that the House Republicans raise taxes to pay for the excess authorizations the Democrats enacted.

Raising the debt limit is not the only remaining recourse. The United States owns enormous assets and they can be sold. We also have the world's most powerful military force and we could, if we wished, collect all the tribute we needed from the less powerful nations of the world.

The idea that we'd impoverish our elderly and let the sick die in the streets first is just ridiculous.
