Zionists to Mark Products of Judea and Samaria
Arutz Sheva ^ | 14/7/11 | Gil Ronen

Posted on 07/14/2011 1:41:20 PM PDT by Eleutheria5

“My Israel,” a grassroots Zionist group that boasts a membership in the tens of thousands, announced Thursday its activists will mark products of Judea and Samaria with stickers. The stickers will be placed on the products on the shelves of retailer outlets nationwide, the group promised. The move is a response to an initiative by far-left Meretz activists, who entered stores in Tel Aviv Wednesday and placed stickers on products made in Judea and Samaria. There is no difference in the wording of the stickers – only in the graphic design. Meretz’s stickers say “produced in the settlements” against a green background (see Meretz video embedded), while My Israel’s stickers say “produced in the settlements” with a design incorporating an Israel flag.

Manufacturers told “My Israel” that the Meretz campaign, which is being presented as a protest against the Anti-Boycott Law, has actually boosted sales.

One of these manufacturers, Yair Hirsch of Meshek Achiya, which produces olive oil, said: “The number of people who have turned to us in recent days and said – ‘I want to support you, just tell me how’ – is amazing and moving. The greatness of the Nation of Israel is revealed. As demand increases, marking my products can only help.”

Ayelet Shaked, chairwoman of My Israel, said that “whereas Meretz activists wanted to hurt an entire sector in an illegitimate way by marking their products as undesirable, their action ironically only encourages Israelis to strengthen these products, since everyone understands that the products marked as made in Judea and Samaria are pure ‘blue and white’ (Israeli made).”

What do products from other parts of Israel get, just a generic “made in Israel”?

It would take non-Jews and non-Muslims to process the product. Christians maybe?

Pig flesh is awful hard to find here, for obvious reasons.

” would take non-Jews and non-Muslims to process the product”

Nope. Jewish people, at least, could certainly assist in the production of non-kosher food products, as there is nothing wrong with non-Jewish people eating them.

(We just aren’t permitted to eat them.)

The biblical narrative forbids to Jews “touching the carcass” of such an animal, or else they become ritually unclean until evening. I guess using gloves wouldn’t count.

On a few. I think my aunt’s kibbutz, Mayan Tzvi used to grow them in the ‘60s. If you really look, you could probably find some pork or ham at a restaurant. But it hasn’t caught on. There is only one completely not kosher restaurant that I know of in Jerusalem. The kosher ones do not know how to do Chinese cuisine, even those that claim to, and usually you have a choice of falafel and shawarma, falafel and pizza, or baguette sandwiches.

Ah, one merely must ask for “white steak” in Tel-Aviv to get it.

Not for me; it’s disgusting.
