What do you think ? Governor Palin ? Is she running ? (also vote in the poll inside this posting)

First, I have absolutely no inside track (despite what some may think) but I am guessing Governor Sarah Palin is running for President in 2012. Basis for my guess ? First, she has never said no. In fact, she told me in an interview about 8 weeks ago, and this remark has been repeated by other journalists to her and by her, she has the “fire in her belly” interest in running. This is not a yes, and it is not a no but leans more in the yes direction. In that interview I tried to get a more definitive answer out of her as to whether she is running or not but only got admission of “fire in the belly.” Second, we have not heard much from her since her bus tour which makes me suspicious that she is gearing up (but just a guess…maybe she is doing something else? writing another book? spending time with her family? ) Third, as the days go on, some of the declared Republican candidates are having a few troubles – whether it be a gaffe or troubles raising money. This must be tempting to a politician looking at the race and who has not said no. Fourth, I read in the Des Moines Register that there are Palin volunteers – not from a Palin organization – all over the ground in Iowa. Fifth, there seems to be a media strategy – two weeks ago a documentary about her time as Governor opened in Iowa and then yesterday the cover story in Newsweek Magazine hit the newsstands. Sixth, she has already gone through the media digging into her life and past which discourages many politicians. Seventh, are there any signs she is not running other than that she is not physically in Iowa and has not declared a candidacy?

What do you think? Is she running? or not? (*take the poll)

Greta lays out a great argument that Gov Palin is running. IMO at this point anyone that still thinks she isn't running is not paying attention.

If she wasn't going to run, she would have said so long ago.

Strategically, delaying her official entry into the race was a stroke of genius.

EVERYBODY is in disarray on account of it.

If the election prospects of your candidate-of-choice depend upon what Sarah Palin does or does not do, then your candidate-of-choice does not have a snowball's chance in Hell anyway.

Yes. If she cares about our side winning the next election (as she obviously does) I’d think if she wasn’t going to run she would have made a statement to that effect by now so everyone’s focus could shift to one of the other candidates.

But who knows (except her!) :-)

What does Palin say about this? Why not just ask her, and end all this useless speculation?

At the end of the day I still say no. She still has a lot of kids at home and I think at the end of the day she will not want to subject them to the media gauntlet. I think she is having more fun just torturing the media anyhow.

I’m 60-40 she is running. Once I know more about Perry’s plans I’ll be 90% sure one way or the other.

I think she is waiting for the GOP cave in. She will then announce a New Party. She will attack directly in to the heart of the Government in an attempt to take the executive branch back in to American hands. In my opinion this is the only hope left. I seldom disagree with Rush but here I do.

I agree with you she is very smart. I don't know if she will run, but I know this for sure: If she runs it will be a win for her, if she doesn't run it will be a win for her. She is that clever.

The establishment is scared of her. This is a person who gave up the governorship because attacks on her were hurting the state. She came back stronger and better. Conventional wisdom says she should have been done when she resigned and the establishment thought they had her permanently down. However, what she proved is that a cause is greater than personal political power. She showed she was willing to sacrifice the latter for the former. THIS MY FRIENDS SCARES THE ELISTIST AND THE ESTABLISHMENT.

I agree. Just drove by her new house in AZ...it not far from mine...looks like her kids will feel pretty comfy there, and I heard (rumor only) that the school district was notified that another special needs kid will be in the district and needing services.

I sure like Mrs. Palin, but I see her as a King maker not the King. She has my admiration, and I would certainly back her with gusto if she does run and get the nomination.

If CFR-Rick declares, that will be Sarah's signal to get in and deny the ruling-class their candidate-of-choice.

What does having kids have to do with it?

I agree with you she is very smart.

Can you imagine her in a debate with Ubama's TelePrompTer?

My bet is that if she is the candidate, Ubama will not agree to any debates.

Putting your credibility on the line predicting what any woman will choose to do in a situation like this is the same as risking it on a single coin toss.
If/when she runs is the only truth here.

What if she comes in first or second in the Iowa Caucuses without even announcing? That would be a political volcano that would catapult her to the nomination for sure. Could that be politically "legal" and possible? Somebody clue me in.

Okay.

Here goes.

This guessing game has become destructive.

It’s fine to have fun with the media but it’s another thing to have your supporters flailing around in the dark and eating their own; forming a circle around you and pushing you into the fight.

Sarah Palin needs to do something SOON or she will alienate a lot of people who have supported her, or have them weaken the GOP vote with talk of a destructive write-in campaign.

Let’s get them all out there and listen to them and see how they stack up against each other, so we can decide who will make Obama a one term president and rally behind that candidate, and encourage the other candidates to endorse the strongest.

Palin shot down the kingmaker crap in the newsweek article. Palin is not and never had the intention of being kingmaker and it is 100% due to how those she made kings in 2010 have treated her. Which can be laid directly at the establishment’s feet. so when Palin gets in the race the establishment has no one to blame but themselves. instead of trying to shove her aside they should have gave her a seat at the table.

Now she has no other option but to run.

Can you imagine the shiver of terror that a Palin / Perry Ticket would send through the hearts of the Libs and ‘Rats?
