Ronald Reagan, champion of freedom
By Edwin Meese III, (who was there). Special to CNN -June 29, 2011 2:42 p.m.
>
American troops from the Air Force and Army serving in Hungary pose with the statue today
As more and more demented, partisan, envious libs continue trying to destroy this impressive and consequential American leader, the rest of world acknowledges his documented greatness and memorializes him. Thank you, God, for President Reagan .. how special of the righteous Hungarians. Long live Ronald Reagan and his extraordinary courage! We pray we're soon blessed with another brave leader.

Very telling that the ObaMao administration sent nobody to celebrate this momentous occasion. Maybe the local U.S. Ambassador was able to spare a few minutes, but that’s all the lip service we get from this regime.

OMG — that is so great! The statue captures him in his prime with so many of his qualities!
I have heard there are many homes in Eastern Europe where Ronald Reagan’s picture is on the wall as a tribute to what he did.

It is diplomatic protocol for the host country to allow any representatives from the country being honored who wish to attend. The former Soviet satellite states of Eastern Europe bend over backwards to be polite and accommodating to any Americans, especially those there on official business. The Hungarians are second only to the Poles in hospitality. The Czechs are a close third. Zer0's boys weren't there because he didn't want them to be there.
Notice SOS Clinton will be there a week later. The Hungarians would have delayed the statue unveiling to accommodate her schedule had she wanted to be there. Clearly, she did not.

God bless the Hungarians.

How sad that Pres. Reagan is honored more in these countries than he is in the USA. Some day he really must be added to Mt. Rushmore for defeating the USSR without loss of life. Absolutely brilliant.

So glad I saw this thread. I’m very impressed to read this article. I was in Budapest in 1999, and I saw how living within the Soviet Union had been devastating for Hungary.

Some day he really must be added to Mt. Rushmore for defeating the USSR without loss of life. I agree, especially when you consider what the alternative could have been.

The Press called President Reagan "The Great Communicator", but to the millions in Central and Eastern Europe that he freed from the yoke of Soviet Oppression, he is "The Great Liberator".
I miss Ronald Reagan!
