Our Sharia-Compliant Afghan War
National Review ^ | Andrew C. McCarthy

Posted on 06/25/2011 10:00:32 AM PDT by ventanax5

In a better time, when the burdens of war were shared by an engaged nation and not shouldered exclusively by military families making up less than 1 percent of the population, the high farce that is the Afghanistan mission would have been obvious before President Obama uttered one word on Wednesday night. All you’d need to know is the story that came to light the day before.

Turns out that the U.S. government has embraced a core tenet of sharia — that archaic corpus of Islamic law that Mitt Romney recently assured us would never gain traction in America. Patrick Poole reported at Pajamas Media on Tuesday that the secretary of the army has just granted “conscientious objector” status to Pfc. Nasser Abdo, a Muslim American soldier who refused to deploy to Afghanistan. Heeding the admonitions of CAIR and other Muslim Brotherhood operatives, the Pentagon accepts the claim that sharia forbids Muslims from assisting infidels in a war against Muslim forces in an Islamic land.

News Flash One: The war in Afghanistan, an Islamic land, is a war waged by infidels (that would be us) against Muslim forces — the Taliban, al-Qaeda, the Haqqani network, etc.

News Flash Two: The operating theory of the American counterinsurgency (COIN) strategy in Afghanistan is that the hearts and minds of the population of this tribal sharia society will side with us non-Muslims in a war against their fellow Muslims, most of whom are also their fellow Afghans.

Which is to say, our strategy is insane.

“The danger to America is not Barack Obama but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the Presidency. It will be far easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails America. Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The Republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president.”

That is a excellent quote. So True!

We need to get “ludircous” to make a rap song with those words as the lyrics.

In a nut-shell, Political Correctness has gone wild in Afghanistan thanks to silly and dangerous Rules of Engagement put in place by McCain and others making General Petraeus etc. and Gates follow these Sunday School Picnic Rules that are our obligation to the enemy not theirs to us. Killing American Soldiers Was Never Easier.

And because of political correctness, we train yet another future terrorist in our military ways. Being Muslim should be the number 1 disqualifier in military and government service.

“shouldered exclusively by military families making up less than 1 percent of the population,”

Makes me think maybe we should go back to a draft to ensure that the population has to be behind any war we execute.

that’s about the ONLY good reason for the draft i’ve heard. interesting...

of course, if we simply had stuck to the constitution, it wouldn’t have come to this... we’d never have a war, that didn’t have the consent of the people.

///
Amen !!!

and what about the “Establishment Clause”?
we spend billions on “nation building” countries like Iraq and Afghanistan,
that specifically have sharia law IN their constitution.

we ARE actively helping and paying to establish a religion, in other countries,

( while FORBIDDING efforts to even introduce Christianity.)

even our troops in Afghanistan, are DELIBERATLELY forbidden to give Bibles to Afghans, even as personal gifts.”

...yet our Army repairs and builds masjids, and our taxes PURCHASE Qurans, prayer rugs, etc.

ISN’T THIS a violation of the establishment clause, that the libs constantly throw at Christians ?

I agree! No Muslims in the armed forces or government.

No nation building! No matter what we do to help these people, they will not change.

The Communist shadow government will continue to erase the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in America if we allow them to. (Wake up, people!) Fortunately the missionaries are doing a fantastic job of promoting Jesus Christ in foreign countries. Our pastors in America need to preach more fire and brimstone!

May I add: No more Political Correctness? Good is still good. Evil is still evil!

The politicially correct boobs in the upper ranks at the Pentagon have long done everything they can to bring Muslims into the military. They should rethink that policy. The excuse is that Muslims will be very helpful reaching out to the hearts and minds of people in Muslim countries where we are fighting.

I don't know if that ever actually works, but there have been several notorious cases where Muslim troops turned on their fellow soldiers and killed them--as well as taking government money and educational privileges and then pleading for conscientious objector status. It's not as if they didn't know who they would probably be fighting.

The Fort Hood shootings are a perfect illustration. The perp was an absolutely lousy doctor, who got a hugely expensive free education, told everyone that he wanted to do jihad against his fellows, and then did so. If not for the affirmative action policy shielding Muslims, he would have been given a bad conduct discharge, or would never have been admitted in the first place.

This is a very dangerous policy. I don't know if all Muslims should be barred from the military, but they certainly should not be treated as affirmative action candidates.

Yet, the best way to have fought this particular war would've been to tell the tribes initially allied with us that our objective was to exterminate the Talibani and a pair of their ears would be worth a $20 bounty.

Whereupon, the Talibani -- and every male who looked or spoke like one -- would've been exterminated inside a year or two.

Whereupon, we would depart -- leaving the Afghanis to whatever arrangement they wished, while knowing that if they ever hosted another group that pissed off the USA, we would return to exterminate them!.

Would've saved a lot of time, a lot of blood...and a lot of money.

It's a matter of will.

I find your statement very telling, and the simplicity really sums up the situation quite well.

Personally, I wouldn't let any of these jihadists in our armed forces; many will cry "unfair", but they can serve and pick who and when they will fight?

Very bad idea. Another reason is that we should not be teaching military tactics to a group of people who are literally sworn enemies of the United States. One may say 'Disunited States'. Things are going from bad to worse very quickly.

With how many loopholes for when it's convenient for the rulers of the land? (Logical consistency was never Mad Mo's strong suit.) If you're going to try to get help from seriously religious Muslims you're probably going to have to invoke some Islamic principle as a reason. Or else threaten their entire world view with something they did not believe possible.
