If you've ever seen the film "The Road to Wellville" you know that eating wheat or corn flakes without sugar is like eating cardboard. The scene where Matthew Broderick and his partner are trying to duplicate Dr. Kellogg's corn flake recipe is hysterical, as batch after batch of their imitation flakes comes out inedible.
Well, the FDA is about to order food processors and manufacturers to drastically cut sugar and other "unhealthy" additives in the name of saving the children - from obesity.
Audrey Hudson at Human Events:
It's not just the usual suspected foods that are being targeted, such a thin mint cookies sold by scouts or M&Ms and Snickers, which sponsor cars in the Sprint Cup, but pretty much everything on a restaurant menu.
Although the intent of the guidelines is to combat childhood obesity, foods that are low in calories, fat, and some considered healthy foods, are also targets, including hot breakfast cereals such as oatmeal, pretzels, popcorn, nuts, yogurt, wheat bread, bagels, diet drinks, fruit juice, tea, bottled water, milk and sherbet.

BUT... as long as I am forced to foot the medical bills (also because of an unconstutional overreach under the Commerce Clause), I will support it.

Which is why the same FDA has made it a criminal offense to advertise that stevia is sweet, even though stevia IS sweet, natural, and doesn't raise blood sugar.
Nutrasweet, Aspartame, Splenda, Sucralose, Saccarin - sing it to the moon, claim it sweet, sweet sweet.
But say Stevia is sweet?
Put your hands up. You have the right to remain silent...
For the children.
Dear God, PLEASE put me back in the 50’s... these folks are crazy stupid.
Sugar, like salt, can also make a flavor come out. In other words, you aren’t tasting just sugar, but how sweetening something else makes it not just palatable, but delicious. Like a BLT with mayo. You don’t need a lot of mayo, but just the bit you put makes all the difference in the world in the flavor and consistency experience.
With salt, it’s best if you don’t really taste the salt, just the flavor it brings out in the foods you put it in.
You are right.
I can add my own sugar if I have to, I can buy my own chocolate and make my own Turtle’s, Mine are better anyway.
This is about Government trying to control everything in our lives. We give them an inch and they take a mile. They start by taking away the Soda machines and chocolate Milk in schools, and next thing you know they are telling adults what we can eat.
How many jobs will Obama take away from America, whn he poutlaws every cereal with Sugar in it and outlaws snickers. The people who produce these products have job. Jobs they will lose. The bastid is trying to destroy us one hit at a time.
They should keep their regulations off our stomachs, but this time, they're correct.
Funny, my favorite has always been plain old cake donuts and a coffee. I can hardly find those donuts anymore.
I was once fed “cattail muffins” while playing soldier; it was like eating brown-paper grocery bags.
I chewed on one for about a half-hour, at the end of which it was no more swallowable than when I had started, at which point I spat it out, determining that if cattail muffins were all that stood between me and starvation, I was starving to death.
until sugar is no longer available
The plan is that all food will eventually funnel through the federal government and, when it comes time to reduce the population, they will simply attenuate the supply.
Since by that time the only source of seeds will be Monsanto, it will be a piece of cake.
Sugar increases insulin which leads to fat. Most Americans are complete morons and incapable of limiting themselves so there you go. Anything natural in moderation isn’t bad for you.
The real culprit is high fructose corn syrup. You won’t see the FDA limiting that!
No, it’s the consumers choices of what they eat “ that are making us fat, cholesterol-ridden and heart-attack-prone.”
As a kid I had two choices for breakfast most mornings, Wheaties or Cheerio’s. I preferred the Wheaties because a nifty STP sticker was inside.
My mom had 5 pound tupperware full of pure cane sugar always. I was never limited to my supply. Not a fat kid in the bunch and there was 7 of us. Obama is simply taking over the food industry via regulation.

I used to live in a country where if someone from the government tried to tell you what to eat for breakfast, they would be hanging from a tree by lunch.
Do I think the government should ban unhealthy foods? No way. Stay away from people’s freedom.
But between us, every single starchy food is nothing but sugar in the body anyway. It’s not healthy and all of it should be minimized for optimal health. But we should be a free people, able to eat poisons if we so wish. I just wish people who were unhealthy or overweight understood that giving up grain foods, sugary foods, and fake sugars would make them healthy and drop pounds without really trying.
Next thing, you will need a doctor’s prescription for 1/4 lb. of sugar. Like for cold medication here on Oregon.
