Former Rep. Inglis to Launch Conservative Coalition to Address Climate Change (RINO BARF ALERT)
ClimateWire / The New York Times ^ | 2011-06-14 | Jean Chemnick

A former Republican congressman who is an advocate for action to address climate change plans to launch a new conservative coalition this fall made up of Republicans who, like him, believe that human emissions are triggering global warming and that steps should be taken to stop it.

Former six-term Rep. Bob Inglis (R-S.C.) said he hopes his coalition will become a factor in the 2012 presidential and congressional elections -- and beyond. He said the view embraced by many Republicans that human emissions are not a major contributor to global warming is out of step with what it means to be a conservative, given that most scientists say the reverse is true.

"What I hope to do is be a part of an effort that calls conservatives to return to conservatism and to turn away from the populist rejection of science," Inglis said. He conceded that he expects this message to take at least two election cycles to take root, given today's political climate.

Inglis, who lost a Republican primary last year to a more conservative challenger backed by the tea party movement, favors what he calls "free enterprise" policies to address climate change over a cap on carbon emissions. He said the group would look for ways to stimulate a private-sector response to the problem.

Some current Republican members of Congress said they like that they could be part of a coalition like the one Inglis envisions.

"I would welcome that," said Rep. Charles Bass (R-N.H.), adding that there is a group of Republicans that would support action on climate change.

"I've been a proponent of a climate change agenda for the Congress," Bass, a rare Republican moderate, said.

How disgusting - even after being booted from office by the Tea Party, this RINO is still trying to fight with conservatives!

That’s because at his very heart he is a liberal.

I also blame Mitt Romney for this. He basically green lighted a rift like this with his idiotic pronouncement the other week.

Inglis and other RINOs like him are merely looking to get in on the gravy train via government handouts and mandates. There’s nothing conservative about it.

I see this as good news. Let’s draw these losers out of the woodwork and join this moron. That way we will be able to see exactly who these Progressive RINO’s are and they can be defeated. I have a feeling that Bob is going to be a little lonely after Mittens announcement he is a Global Warming kook went over like a lead balloon.

CLIMATE CHANGE? Where my house is was once an ancient ocean. They found an ancient coral reef here locally. The climate is always changing somewhat, and was millions of years before man was created here. The earth has volcanoes, quakes, hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, etc. The earth is always changing. But it isn’t caused by people.

This was in the paper here yesterday about the coral reefs they found here....

The Damon Mound fossil coral reef will highlight fossils found on the highest point in Brazoria County, Pollan said.

“The Damon Mound is one you can actually see,” Miles said. “You can see where the road goes upwards because of it.”

The Damon Caprock, where the coral reef was found, is one of four caprocks at surface level in the world, Pollan said.

And when we toured Catalina Island, Calif. the guide said the island is moving, about an inch a year, I think he said moving north. That could cause the micro climate there to change a bit and it is NOT man made change.

PS Summers are HOT, Winters are COLD!

“So will he blame SUVs for decreased solar activity?”

The disproportionate volume of SUV’s in the US, relative to the rest of the planet, has altered the declination of the earth's tilt relative to the sun, thereby altering the long cycle of climate variability.

Ergo, SUV’s bad.

You're going to need a government grant and a 5 year study before you can make a wild statement like that :^)

I think that is is even worse than what you stated; I believe this is being initiated to give Romney and Huntsman cover to protect their claims of being conservative.

Would the little POS like to provide some proof? After all, the "scientists" themselves cannot prove the causal connection, so maybe this idiot can.

Here's what Bob said about the Tea Party.

"It's a dangerous strategy to build conservatism on information and policies that are not credible...

Yet Bob is buying into the Global Warming crap?

Lol.
