The 26-year-old man shot and killed by a SWAT team during a raid last month was struck 22 times and a toxicology exam showed there were no traces of drugs in his blood at the time of death, according to an autopsy report released Monday.
SWAT officers fired 71 rounds at Jose Guerena from the doorway of his home while serving a search warrant the morning of May 5, officials from Pima County Sheriffs Department have said. Less than a third of those shots hit Guerena, leaving some 49 rounds passing through walls and some hitting nearby homes, according to reports released by the department last week.
Guerenas toxicology report showed there were no traces of drugs and only a low level of ethanol 0.02 percent some or all of which may have been produced after his death, a medical examiner from the Pima County Medical Examines Office wrote.
The report showed most of Guerenas gunshot wounds were to his legs and arms. He was struck three times on his torso and grazed by a bullet on the head, according to the autopsy report.

I’d bet a substantial percentage of the hits occured after he was down.
I can only imagine being shot 22 times with three to the torso... who knows? I’m guessing the torso shot plus the hour he lay dying with no emergency medical help. Sometimes you don’t need to be a medical professional and I think this is one of those times IMHO.
OK Now let us see the tox screens for the officers involved.
They let him lay there an hour, He probably bled out.
Was that the intention?
Those bastards let him bleed out when they could have let the medicos at least try to save him, and I’ve got a buck that says they did it on purpose because Gureana knew something.
“The report showed most of Guerenas gunshot wounds were to his legs and arms. He was struck three times on his torso and grazed by a bullet on the head, according to the autopsy report.”
So there’s a good chance that prompt medical attention would have prevented his death.
Very difficult to read...the poor hero.
Swat murder goes unpunished.
ALL of the orficers involved need to be fired!
They murdered a us citizen.
Doj asleep at the wheel.
How many civies have benn killed by our government since 1992?
Sounds like a Lib police officer didn’t like a Military Hero, so he drummed up a charge of drug possession because everyone (Libs that is) “Knows” that Mexicans are born genetic criminals and always use/sell drugs.
Absolutely unbelievable. And remember this happened on May 5th, this is June 6. How long do they need to prepare their defence of the indefensible.
Here’s a better, more detailed article from KGUN9.

Shoot, you could bleed out with 22 holes in an hour and a quarter, even if none of them were in the torso, especially if you nicked or holed a femoral artery.
They're not asleep at the wheel. None of Holder's people are among the vics AND it's a lib enclave. What's to look into?
I agree. From what I hear, a gut shot wound is extremely painful. I get literally sick thinking of this poor man bleeding out, moaning, in pain... while SWAT sat around. Just sick.
“I get literally sick thinking of this poor man bleeding out, moaning, in pain...”
And his wife and child there. I believe she called 911 from the closet asking for an ambulance as well.
You misspelled orifices.
They do need to be fired.
Fire....oriface....puts me in mind of the legendary King Edward treatment...
Irony. Serving two tours in Iraq, one in Afghanistan, and getting killed by your own government getting out of bed.
I can’t imagine. My mind tries to go there but it won’t. I have no idea how this woman and their child will ever get over this nightmare. Imagine listening to your husband call out in pain and for help and no one helps him? This is just horrible.
