Dr. Krauthammer and Gov. Palin: Analyzing the Analyst
American Thinker ^ | June 2, 2011 | Tom Rowan

Posted on 06/01/2011 11:43:41 PM PDT by Bratch

Charles Krauthammer's opinion matters. As any political junkie knows, Dr. Krauthammer is all at once witty, sublime, sarcastic, and serious. People listen to Krauthammer and care about what he thinks. Political junkies yearn for reliable scouts like him who speak plainly, tell the truth, and offer unique insights based on the truth.

The most valuable characteristic an established "wise man" can have is the ability to see and tell the truth. Speaking the truth about current events is where Krauthammer seems to hit all the right notes. Only on very rare occasions does this maestro hit a decidedly sour note. And these false notes are starting to become glaringly tinny when Krauthammer opines on Sarah Palin. With Palin, Krauthammer's reliable sights become suspect. He lowers himself from wise man to wise guy. He leaves his well positioned observation post to take up a sniper's position in the mud.

Why does he do this? And why is he making a habit of it? What exactly is Krauthammer's beef with Governor Palin?

I am guessing Krauthammer's miserable failure as speechwriter for Walter Mondale has at least something to do with his ongoing campaign to delegitimize Palin. I would wager that Krauthammer wrote the line that sank Mondale: "Mr. Reagan will raise taxes; and so will I. He won't tell you. I just did." I suspect Krauthammer is still smarting from his colossal election failure and from time to time is re-fighting the campaign against that phony cowboy Reagan.

Great analysis....but I think I better go to bed-—I thought I was reading something about Palin taking lap dancing lessons with Henry Kissinger and that completely did me in........good night.

BTW, writing for Mondale must have done some serious damage to Dr. K....he is obviously bitter about something....the way he directs the irrational anger at Palin. I do like a lot of what he writes and says, but geeeesh....his logic and reason disappear with the name Palin. He needs a good psychiatrist.

Krauthammer has lost all respect from me.

Over the last two days, Krauthammer died.

I thought Palin’s son went to Afghanistan. Regardless, it was peculiar how a bunch of D.C. conservative pundits turned against Palin virtually simultaneously in 2008.

This really sums up the odd Palin dismissals this far out by Chuck. Well thought out piece. I couldn't agree more. I always wondered why Krouty was late coming over to the Conservative side. He didn't even vote for Reagan in '84. He is still entertaining though.

"Let's see if we can have a reasoned discussion about end-of-life counseling. We might start by asking Sarah Palin to leave the room. I've got nothing against her. She's a remarkable political talent. But there are no "death panels" in the Democratic health care bills, and to say that there are is to debase the debate"

Did Kraut ever admit this (rather large) mistake of his? He's made more than a few whoppers over the years. ....a few of them unforgivably idiotic.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Krauthammer

Within the American political spectrum, Krauthammer has been called a conservative,[28] as well as a neoconservative on matters of foreign policy.[29] However, on domestic issues, Krauthammer is a supporter of legalized abortion;[30][31][32] an opponent of the death penalty;[33][34][35][36] an intelligent design critic and an advocate for the scientific consensus on evolution, calling the religion-science controversy a “false conflict;”[37][38] a supporter of embryonic stem cell research using embryos discarded by fertility clinics with restrictions in its applications;[39][40][41] and a longtime advocate of radically higher energy taxes to induce conservation.[42][43][44][45] Meg Greenfield, editorial page editor for The Washington Post who edited Krauthammer’s columns for 15 years, called his weekly column “independent and hard to peg politically. It’s a very tough column. There’s no ‘trendy’ in it. You never know what is going to happen next.”[3]

Professional political people are like professional military people

They some time have more respect for conformity to the art of the profession then to any one cause and to the believers in it any one cause...

I didn’t realize he was a speech writer for Mondole. Based on what he has been saying lately he seems to be one of those elite, inside-the-beltway RINOs (aka right-wing Leftist) masquerading as a Conservative.

Those anti-Palin “conservatives” that turned against her are simply RINOs (aka right-wing Leftists).

A Leftist is a Leftist and a Leftist by any other name is still a Leftist.

"How to steal sound bites from the democrats"
"and eat up all the news on a weak news day."

Krauthammer followed the McLaughlin road into lah-de-dee land.

He stopped being an objective analyst and is just a simple cheerleader for RINOs since he has no trust in the average American voter to see and vote for Conservative values.

>>Those anti-Palin “conservatives” that turned against her are simply RINO<<

There are many who think Mrs. Palin has problems that she may not be able to overcome.

Being objective about her run prospects isn’t being a liberal.

But Krauthammer has gone around the bend, like his buddy Newt. It isn’t just his opinion on Mrs. Palin, it was his approach to NY 23 and the NY 26, as well as his support for the RINOs such as Huck, and of course Romney.

Oh, no wonder....he is one of those icky Postmoderns. Such a nihilism and twisted “logic” about those people....sick souls.

To deny the design in nature is really stupid, Dr. K. Even the leading atheist, Flew, admitted recently that there had to be a God after writing all the leading books on Philosophy of Science, etc. You really have to stretch faith more to believe in no God—something from nothing....really?...Not very rational thinking....but then you proved you are irrational by your Palin statements.

You must hate the Constitution also....since our rights come from God. Must make you puke to say the pledge. True colors....moral relativism is inconsistent with our Constitution—don’t you know that? Since we have to acknowledge God (and Universal Truths) because are rights come from Him not man.

“He is still entertaining though.”

Only if you’re a masochist. CK is an elitist liberal snob with a stick permanently inserted in his spine. The man never cracks a smile...sure sign of an angry liberal. He speaks s though his pronouncements are the final authority on any subject because his intellect is so superior to all us unwashed stupids out here,
Personally, I have always found it difficult to trust a man with no neck.

Speaking the truth about current events is where Krauthammer seems to hit all the right notes.

He may come close often, but the Truth remains elusive. In my own journeys to find it, I've had to rely on my past beliefs and experiences. If Charles has done the same, his stint with Mondale won't serve him well.

He'll never see Sarah for who she truly is as he remains invested to some extent in his inner Mondale-ianism. His inner collectivist will not accept the individual's rightful claim to America's bounty- it somehow must be shared (at gunpoint, if need be) by all, for the greater good (two words that were never more oxymoronic and never should be allowed to follow one-another in a sentence).

Like many others, I used to be liberal (less than 25 y.o.) but grew out of it as I realized what lay beyond the bend. Seeing around corners is what is necessary to avoid calamity and requires one to 'learn' from previous mistakes in order to do it. Adherence to such wisdom gained is essential.

I could predict what four more years of Obama will portend. I could also predict what the first four years of Sarah Palin as President would do.

It's actually pretty simple for anyone paying attention: socialism/collectivism/radicalism will fail (unless the mission is to tear down America) versus capitalism/ individualism/liberty that will succeed (again, unless the goal is to defeat America).

As a media mogul, Dr.K carries weight. As a visionary, he's too light for my tastes. As a mechanic, fixing something requires the right tool and I don't want someone handing me a crescent wrench when I need a deep-socket ratchet.

This country's broken and if you've no idea how to fix it, get out of my tool chest.

The conformist conservatives (RINOs) spend more energy criticising Sarah Palin than they do Obama.

Is it envy ? perhaps. She has energized grass roots conservatives far beyond the
ability of the annointed beltway conservatives.
