Interesting analysis of the SWAT raid that took Jose Guerena's life.

Well written.
I am still of the opinion that ‘no knock’ warrants do far more damage to the Constitution and all of us - than the actions of the very few drug dealers who would possibly escape conviction if such warrants were abolished for all but hostage situations.

All police officers are taught to avoid the fatal funnel, or placing them selves in a narrow, tight area where it is easy for bad guys to shoot them. Being silhouetted in a doorframe is a classic example, as is being stacked up in a narrow hallway. If one cant avoid such areas, it is imperative to minimize the time spent in them. You mean, like this?

It would have been a whole lot more convenient if you had just posted a link to this book long article.
That way, others could have posted a response .. without having to scroll through the whole thing first.
That being said .. This guy is full of it!
Being former “special forces” myself and having been trained with one of the world’s finest search and destroy outfits .. There is Absolutely No scenario that I am aware of .. where a properly trained unit would have a need to unload 60+ rounds into one poor bass-turd!

--agree-
-and I will re-iterate my oft-posted opinion that SWAT teams should be disbanded, the members put in a regular uniform, issued a revolver with two speedloaders, issued a set of brogans with soles about an inch thick and given a beat to patrol on foot twice a shift--that would constitute useful law enforcement--

That the SWAT team apparently did not immediately follow up their fire and completely clear the home is further, damning evidence of unbelievably poor leadership and execution. For those who have experience in such matters, the apparent behavior of the police is simply mind-boggling.

“no knock warrant”
is a contradiction in terms.
This should NOT exist in our country. I really don’t care about the “preservation of evidence” as much as I do the life of the innocent homeowner, or even the “presumed innocent” homeowner.

Jesus Guerena now knows three people that have been killed in illegal home invasions.

Nonsense. If he had just posted a link, he would have gotten complaints asking why he didn’t just post the whole thing. It’s gotten to be a FR thing. People complaining about the way other people post.

Very fair and balanced assessment.....
What this ultimately points to is a badly managed department that sent an unqualified “team” in to execute a dubious warrant and that is now scrambling to cover their asses.
