CHERRY HILL, N.J. -- A New Jersey teenager says she's received threats since challenging U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann to a debate over the Constitution.

Ann Myers challenged the tea party favorite in a letter dated April 29. After it started getting media attention last weekend, commenters on tea party websites have threatened to publish her home address and some have threatened violence.

Media gone wild. Someone (reportedly) posts an anonymous threat and it's immediately associated with that Evil Tea Party.

I also see one of the kooky left wing websites is currently using this to attack the Tea Party.

Why is an AP story publishing the name of a (threatened) minor?

If this "threat" is real, why not investigate the origination of the post?

I agree. Nothing specific mentioned so I assume the girl is referring to nasty comments made on websites by people who remain anonymous. That is unfortunate but it is also something that many have to deal with - and it stinks. Ask Sarah Palin - who has been stalked and harassed for almost 3 full years. Even her toddler, Trig, a special-needs child, has been used to insult Palin. So, welcome to the technical age. Before the internet, loons sent typewritten threatening letters, usually mailed far from the authors home to avoid detection. There will always be nuts around but unless there is a credible threat, there isn't much the police can do. Thus it ever was. I don't believe that TEA Party activists are behind any threats. This girl is irrelevant and conservatives don't usually play the vindictive games we see on the left. As you posted, this doesn't pass the 'smell test' (looks like a set-up).

Gee I remember DemocRATS posting Col West Social Security number after making false statements about him being in biker groups. And DemocRATS giving speaker Boenher’s address to demonstrate and have trash dumped on his yard...so what is the point here...........things are only news if it can make the right look bad. How does any one know what this girl wrote to Bachmann? Letters never get published that we write to our Reps...What am I missing here?
