For an industry that once decried supposed ideological persecution in the Red Scare, the entertainment industry is sure willing to engage in its fair share.Ah, but that was different. That was the "antithesis" persecuting the "thesis." That's bad. But the "thesis" persecuting the "antithesis?" That's a necessity of history, otherwise known as the "dictatorship of the proletariat."

The use of the pejorative “McCarthyite” is an indication of ignorance.
The use of the pejorative “McCarthyite” in conjunction with the word “blacklisting” is an indication of stupidity.

Even someone who apparently considers opponents of gay marriage "lunatics" is too far right for Hollywood. An interesting extrapolation.
That's not what she said.

>Actor Clint Howard, who recently starred in a series of videos for the conservative Heritage Foundation, urged caution in an interview with Politico’s Patrick Gavin: <
Clint, BTW is Ron Howard’s brother. I have met a couple of conservative people who are in the biz here in L.A. The trick is to keep quiet and undermine the liberal status quo by manipulating the projects set to be green lit. A close bud of mine works for a “studio” and in the perfect position in projects acquisition. A lot of people have no clue how many lib movies pass thru, and he/she has to BS his/her boss that these movie is not worth a budget study and forecast analysis...and keep a straight face.

it behooves us to point out the actual victims of this sort of McCarthyite blacklisting. It's embarrassing and self-defeating when those who set out to right historical wrongs don't know history. Sen. Joseph McCarthy had nothing whatsoever to do with Hollywood "blacklisting." For a conservative writer to make such a boneheaded mistake undermines their overall credibility.

Patricia Heaton and Ray Romano perpetuated the “henpecked husband emasculated by his wife” stereotype that Hollywood has shoved down our throats for decades in order to destroy the family unit. She took the huge paychecks and fame that went with it and is now complaining.

She’s been the lead actress in not one but three broadcast network sitcoms:
“Everybody Loves Raymond” was a ginormous worldwide hit.
“Back to You” tanked, but that was no conspiracy — America voted with their remotes.
“The Middle” is a solid double and will be on the air for four or five years, at least.
I’d love to know what roles she was denied because of her politics.

No doubt this will continue to happen, for too many Americans flock to see liberal entertainers.

...together with other conservatives, a characterization she says has cost her possible work. "We know for a fact there are some people who have said they wouldn't want to work with us because of our politics," she said, with her husband David Hunt adding, "We get lumped in with lunatics."
Sorry, Patricia, you lose me right there. Do you agree with your husband, that anyone who does not say OK to homosexual marriage is a lunatic?

Her complaint about political bias is true, but I am not sure that is entirely her problem. Her problem is getting old. She already has a show on TV, ABC no less. If she was a pariah, why did she get her own network show at all? I think there is a better case for ageism when it comes to women in Hollywood. She is in her mid 50's. Never a hot commodity in that business.

"Telling me that she has many gay friends and doesn't oppose gay marriage,..." Well, God opposes homosexual relationships including homosexual "marriage".
If God calls it an abomination, then I will follow His wise advice. He is ALWAYS right and perfect.
