Patricia Heaton and Ray Romano perpetuated the “henpecked husband emasculated by his wife” stereotype that Hollywood has shoved down our throats for decades in order to destroy the family unit. She took the huge paychecks and fame that went with it and is now complaining.
Please.
Enough bitching and moaning about how hard it is to be a white male. Life is good.
If Hollywood makes truly funny shows, like “Raymond” with the husband as the comedic foil, fine with me. We had “Lucy” and other shows for decades, so something relatively new is in order. Not every show should be “Father Knows Best”.
Anyone who saw a “henpecked husband emasculated by his wife” was not watching the show.
It was a wife frustrated by the “Momma’s boy” attitude of a husband who couldn’t stand up to anyone. It was Marie who emasculated Ray, not Debra. Debra wanted Ray to be a man and take his role as Father and Husband seriously.
I think you missed the WHOLE point of ELR, a consistently fine show.

I think this is the wrong take. From my thoughts on the show, she was always trying to get Ray to man up, be it his mother or kids. He is the typical metrosexual, lazy, chauvenistic, male stereotype. I have always said the reason why turned that show off was because I could not stand to watch a man embarrass the rest of manhood. I know it was only a tv show, but culterally representative of the early boomer/late gen X male.
Lest you were misled, it was a television situation comedy, not a documentary.
Actor/=writer.
So what, that doesn’t mean she isn’t being targeted now. She had her character established on Raymond prior to anyone knowing anything about her, so now she is losing roles. She has a right to complain if illegal discrimination is at play, hell she has a right to sue if she can prove her allegations.
Exactly. Stopped watching the show because every episode was the same as every other episode.
I still watch them. Very funny show. Pat has enough money anyway she does not need Hollywood anymore.
Wow. That’s a strange interpretation, both of the show and her statements.
