Newt Stumbles Out of the Gate
Michelle Malkin ^ | 5/16/2011 | Doug Powers

Newt Gingrich was on Meet the Press this morning in his first Sunday show appearance since announcing his intention to… challenge President Obama for the Democrat nomination, apparently.

Andrew Stiles at NRO has the details:

Newt Gingrich’s appearance on “Meet the Press” today could leave some wondering which party’s nomination he is running for. The former speaker had some harsh words for Paul Ryan’s (and by extension, nearly every House Republican’s) plan to reform Medicare, calling it “radical.”

Wow, you have to question the judgment of someone who, in his first major post-candidacy appearance proceeds to alienate 95% of the people whom he expects to vote for him. But Newt always was a bit tone-deaf when it came to sensing the mood of the electorate. For example, divorcing his wife on her death bed in order to bed some bimbo showed a level of cluelessness that most of us can only aspire to.

We can’t pretend that Newts public statements made on shows we don’t like somehow don’t count. If he can’t avoid simple word traps by Gregory, he has no chance of being elected President anyway.

At any rate, this was no trap. Gingrich opposed HillaryCare, and has had decades to hone his words and positions on the subject. This is just how he feels.

If he can’t survive the Sunday morning talk shows, he’s in the wrong line of work.

No doubt ~ but the issue here is we have Conservatives falling for a Leftwingtard assertion of proper agenda ~ the place to stop that cr*p in this campaign is right here.

We can trash Newt on all sorts of things. It's more important to resist Gregory and his running dog lackeys.

The only Sunday talk show worth watching is FOX ~

Gregory? Not on a bet. The guy is totally agenda driven.

Gregory might have written the questions, but Newt Gingrich's own words are his own. He needs to backtrack or clarify, or live with them. So far I've heard nothing except silence from Newt. He meant what he said.

In which case he's a liberal.

If you would be just given these quotes & told Obama said them on a Sunday morning show would they sound like Obama?

1-“I don’t think right-wing social engineering is any more desirable than left-wing social engineering,” he said when asked about Ryan’s plan to transition to a “premium support” model for Medicare. “I don’t think imposing radical change from the right or the left is a very good way for a free society to operate.”
2-“I believe all of us — and this is going to be a big debate — I believe all of us have a responsibility to help pay for health care,”

But Obama did NOT say these things!!! Newt Did just yesterday. He is NOT a Conservative by far!!

Doesn’t matter what Gregory said. He’s not a Jedi that can do Jedi Mind Tricks on you. Newt must OWN WHAT HE SAID.

Stumbled? I say he committed ‘political’ suicide. As far as I am concerned Newt is now the political equivalent of a sliced of white bread that has been left in a small kitchen appiliance to long!

Don't make you believe you are a doufous ~ it's MONDAY MORNING. No doubt Newt spent the rest of the weekend in bed or at church ~ whatever.

Is he on Hannity this evening? They're probably filming his response to himself RIGHT NOW!

I thought I would give him a serious consideration if he ran, but now I will not. He must have slipped out of touch with reality.

I’ll give Newt until Hannity. If he does not call in and change what he said, he’s a liberal.

‘As far as I’m concerned, just take him out back and shoot him.”

- NPR/ABC’s Cokie Roberts, on Roman (the rapist) Polanski. Equally applicable to the Mr. Noot, I’d say.

Yes, we can pretend because, it turns out, any Republican response given to a Leftwingtard question can be interpreted to their benefit ~ so what you do is stay off those shows, don't watch them, and attack people who try to infiltrate their material into Free Republic.

Oh, yes, that's what you can do, and it works.

I don't support Newt, but I do oppose the Leftwingtards. Spend your time dissecting Gregory and the running dog lackeys who serve on that staff there who come up with the questions ~

Good luck with your efforts.

Although I would not have supported him for president, I was always supportive of Newt's participation in the primaries because I believed he would elevate the debate.

But no one put words in Newt's mouth. Between Ryan and mandating healthcare coverage, his inarticulation is sabotaging the conservative agenda. If he can't, in clear, precise language, say "First, we need to repeal Obamacare.", then he needs to bow out.

He needs to withdraw, shut up, sit by the phone and wait for a call from a real conservative who might need some advise on what NOT to say.

He's not ready for prime-time.

We know what soundbyte politics is about. It's the way the Left gets us to run McCain.

Don't fall for it. You'll know that's what happened when you attack a Republican for what he said on a talk show.

Sure, but Newts not running for President of Fox News viewers. If he can’t take the heat the liberal press is going to throw at him, he best stay out the kitchen.

Look. Dude said what he said. In my world you are ACCOUNTABLE for what you say, if you are a pol. Newt said he backs the Individual Mandate, and has from the 1990's.

I don't care if it's on a talk show, a radio show, a political ad, or muttered on a subway. If that's how he feels, he's a freakin' liberal.

He has until Hannity to retract, and I'M being GENEROUS. The bulk of conservatives are already done with him. He's a liberal.

Newt has a fundamental problem ~ Members of the House never win the Presidency.

Plus, we have a decided distrust of anyone who has ever been a professor ~ particularly after that Wilson event.

Obama would not have won if he'd gotten tenure somewhere.

Newt's public speaking problem is NEW, BTW, and suggests some other reasons why he shouldn't be running for public office.
