EL PASO, Texas and WASHINGTON, D.C. -- President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle hosted the annual Cinco de Mayo reception at the White House Thursday evening.
Things first started out lighthearted, with the president joking about Michelle's favorite type of food: Mexican. "You do not want to get between Michelle and a tamale," Obama said, to a roar of laughter.
But all joking aside, the president told the crowd of immigration reform advocates gathered at the White House Thursday that the Mexican holiday of Cinco de Mayo is a good time for Mexicans and Americans to realize we share more than a border.
Obama said both countries have a vested interest in fixing immigration reform and a fixed system would improve border security and meet the needs of a changing economy, along with meeting a deeper need.
"We're the heirs to mothers and fathers and grandparents and great-grandparents who struggled and sacrificed to forge and realize the American Dream," Obama said. "And that fills us with the collective responsibility to leave an even bigger and bolder, more generous and more compassionate nation for our children."
Obama said it will take changing minds, hearts and votes to fix a broken immigration system. He also told celebrants at a Cinco de Mayo reception at the White House that their help will be needed to make it happen.
Obama recently embarked on a new push to overhaul the U.S. immigration system, despite little enthusiasm for it on Capitol Hill. He has held several meetings in recent weeks with advocates and elected officials, including members of Congress.
But Obama also has asked those he has met with to help win the bipartisan support it would take to get a bill he could sign.

Now, about Mexicans and Americans ~ we all know who is what. Still, in most of the world, e.g. India, China, Africa ~ (where a good majority of humanity lives) THEY CAN'T SEE THE DIFFERENCE ~ not even the differences in wealth. If they catch a newsreel in a theatre somewhere they'll see the same sort of ambulance in Mexico City that they see in New York.
They'd prefer living in either place to where they are living now!
Did he screw it up this year and refer to it as Cinco de Quatro?

Now that (o)bama has single handedly brought to justice UBL, it is time he goes over the boarder to rid Mexico of their drug lords which will bring stability to that nation and provide a peaceful country for the peasants to remain within.
He can use the ruse of flying AF1 into Mexico and then using the emergency escape parachute platform to lead a team of assassins into each province. Using his Nobel Peace Prize as a shield to ward off any rounds fired from firearms sent to Mexico under “gunwalker” he can swoop in and cut each of their throats with his pen. Captain America rides again.

Interesting fact about Hellmann’s Mayonnaise:
Most people don’t know that back in 1912, Hellmann’s mayonnaise was manufactured in England.
In fact, the Titanic was carrying 144,000 jars of the condiment scheduled for delivery in Vera Cruz, Mexico, which was to be the next port of call for the great ship after its stop in New York.
This would have been the largest single shipment of mayonnaise ever delivered to Mexico. But as we know, the great ship did not make it to New York. The ship hit an iceberg and sank, and the cargo was forever lost.
The people of Mexico, who were crazy about mayonnaise, and were eagerly awaiting its delivery, were disconsolate at the loss. Their anguish was so great, that they declared a National Day of Mourning, which they still observed to this day.
The National Day of Mourning occurs each year on May 5th and is known, of course, as;
Sinko de Mayo!
