Spirited: I think you have hit the nail squarely on the head. How can a people who no longer believe in the existence of their own spirit/soul accept belief in the existence of a spiritual dimension? By extension, how can a people who believe that evil exists within “social constructs” rather than within themselves believe in the existence of “fallen” spirits?

I’ve been convinced for about 30 years that the “ET” stuff would end up being part of the Biblically warned about

GREAT DECEPTION of the END TIMES.

I’m MORE thoroughly convinced of that now, than ever.

Whether the critters play the role of attackers only
