A former television executive was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison Wednesday for the beheading death of his wife. After an hour of deliberation, an upstate New York jury convicted Muzzammil "Mo" Hassan of second-degree murder last month after a three-week trial.

In February 2009, Hassan, who founded a TV network aimed at countering Muslim stereotypes, went to a police station in the Buffalo, New York, suburb of Orchard Park and told officers his wife was dead, police have said.

He launched network -- billed as the first English-language cable channel targeting Muslims inside the United States -- in 2004. At the time, Hassan said he hoped the network would balance negative portrayals of Muslims following the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.

Hey, maybe this will send a message that beheadings are “not acceptable” in the Western world. Just maybe.

He walks in 6 years. After all, he’s non-violent, since the object of violence is no longer with us.

(liberal-type reasoning justifying their release of ‘non-violent’ criminals from jails - to save money for bloated pensions)

CNN essentially ignores the murdered wife, and the children;
instead with CNN making the terrorist a CNN-hero
“in fear of his life”.

Has the CNN-beloved terrorist been released
by Obama and Holder yet?

Is he to be the future Sharia Commissar
of Wife-Beheadings, perhaps?

good job Hassan -- you convinced some fools long enough for Obummer to get elected... But now your conviction will convince a lot the other way.

Second-degree murder for beheading the mother of his baby? In Texas, this Muslim would be heading for the gurney in Huntsville. New Yorkers are failures as jurors.

Second Degree Murder?

I guess he didn’t MEAN to cut off her head? He was just trying to...

Hmmm, give me a minute. I’ll come up with something.

"It ended with 'Mo' Hassan in fear of his very life," he told jurors. "Mo Hassan killed his wife, but he is not guilty of murder in the second degree."

In fear of his life, my a**. And I won't even address the stupidity of that second sentence.

Put him under the prison.

Well, there go the anniversary plans.

Is ANYTHING deemed legal any more?

I’ve served several times on juries in NYC. The judge and lawyers and the wacky laws often tie juries’ hands.

What impressed me is that they took ONE hour to convict. That is a very good sign.

I always remember in the novel To Kill A Mockingbird that it took hours (until evening) before they convicted Tom Robinson. As sad as the verdict was, it proved to Atticus Finch that the times they were a-changin’.

Not that it matters, but this is an old story from early March.

Hmmmm...last I checked, first degree murder is premeditated. How could any jury decide a beheading was not premeditated?

Only one way I can think of:

"...aimed at countering Muslim stereotypes..."

Sometimes you don't have to say anything else, and you realize that it's impossible to improve on what has already been said.

I doubt it was the jurors choice to try him for 2nd degree murder, normally it's the prosecutors discretion for that decision.

The jurors seemed to have done their job. One hour is about as fast as it gets.

This feral animal is getting off easy because he is Muslim

If a Christian male was convicted of the brutal crime this Islamic committed....the Christian male gets executed

Absolutely disgusting that we as Americans have been so kowtowing and dhimmi towards this evil cult. Heck, we now have so called “conservative” talk radio hosts defending Islamic Terrorists when a Christian pastor burns a Koran

We will all surely go to hell if we continue to pander to Islam

Well, then Texas has some sanity!

Is there something about this case I’m not getting here? Why is he only getting “25 years to life” and not AT LEAST life without parole?

And, since it IS a NY jury... now I REALLY wonder how KSM would’ve fared in a civilian trial up there.
