Democrat: Government Shutdown Like 'Bombing Innocent Civilians'
April 07, 2011
Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton (D -DC) was on fire when she spoke to FOX 5 Morning News Thursday about how Washington, D.C. residents are being treated as work to avoid a government shutdown continues.
"We are absolutely outraged. This is the functional equivalent of bombing innocent civilians," she said.
"It's time that the District of Columbia told the Congress to go straight to hell," Norton continued after explaining how an attached rider to the latest bill prevented D.C. from spending its own money on abortions for low income women.

Government shut downs are fine when it is government employee unions demanding more money.

For example, the bombing of Libyan civilians — on both sides of its civil war. Thanks Libloather.

I fail to see why my tax dollars should go to murdering innocent babies in the District of Columbia. The elephant on the table that none of the so-called leaders of the Afro-American community are willing to acknowledge is that abortion in America is systematic genocide against people of color.

Pfft.
The playbook is old and worn out. Kind of like.....
The extreme hyperbole these vile Dems are using to keep funding their baby murdering allies is pathetic.

Right, except that it's the exact opposite of this. You want to spend other people's money on abortions.

Saw Laura Ingraham tonite at Univ. of North Florida. She made a great point about the fact of non-essential government employees would be laid off, temporarily. If they are non-essential, what in the hell are they doing there at all?
Great starter for the budget crisis!

I can’t believe this moron has been around all these years. Freeloaders just won’t ever give it up and give someone else a turn at the teat.

Dear Ms. Norton, by all means avoid a shutdown and vote ‘yes’ to HR1.

Perhaps this ignorant moron should tell the welfare queens to stop having irresponsible unprotected sex, and stop popping out babies one after the other to keep their welfare checks rolling in. Victim status grew stale long ago.

There are plenty of functions that are non-essential for a period of time. We could stop training military pilots for a month and recover from it, which would make most people involved in the training process non-essential. The cost per trained pilot would go up because some costs would not stop even if training stopped. At some point in time we will nned some more pilots, though.
We could not stop guarding the gate for a month, so those folks are essential.
The dividing line between essential and non-essential is something like this: If two feet of snow fell last night (in this southern town), do you stay home or figure out a way to get to work?
