Since the ‘civilians’ in Libya are indistinguishable from the rebels and the Libyan military as they all were civilian clothes; this is a pretty useless stat. I would say that children could be classified as ‘civilians’ or non-combatants.

On the other hand, I have a problem with the fact he never went to Congress, although so far he doesn’t have to, and the fact that the UN appears to be directing this. I also think the Saudis might be behind our action there - they never seem to want to get their hands soiled if we can do their dirty work for them.

The Saudis want Gadaffi removed. He was behind an assassination attempt against the King. Obama should have gone to Congress for approval. My point is that this is not a humanitarian mission. It is about real politik. Europe's various national interests are involved more than ours.

Might want to wait a bit before you get the scales and ‘balance the number of civilians killed in stopping Khadaffy’s forces with those who would be killed if they were not’...unless you think the killing will stop after the ‘bad’ KaDaffy guys are dead.
